doesnt the lollichop have the ability to be painted, but its just turned off or something?
does the lollichop have the ability to be painted, but its just turned off or something?
Same with the Cow Mangler. I do wonder how they will handle paintable weapons though. They are obviously working on it (Mannhattan's shovels, red herring in the small easter egg in spawns) Maybe they will limit the colors
Isn't there like an actual painted Cow Mangler out there? If I remember they actually turned on weapon painting for about five minutes, and in that time someone managed to paint a Cow Mangler and an Ubersaw I think.
i personally hope that if they do make weapons paint-able, they make it limited to the wooden bits, or the areas that don't matter much. Such as the grip on the revolvers, or the team colored bits on the few items that have them. provided they keep them subtle enough it shouldn't be a complete eyesore. But still, seeing pink guns in any way will still be torturous on the eyes.
seeing pink guns in any way will still be torturous on the eyes.
I don't know why people keep complaining about his especially when people already have things that are eye blinding unusual effects and hot pink cosmetics, it's sort of a moot point.
Who says paintable weapons will use the existing paints? What if they release paints exclusive for weapons? That would help with not having ugly colors like pink be put on weapons.
provided that paints weren't over-saturated like on hats, they could probably all work. combined with some not so obnoxious paint areas, they probably wouldn't cause that much of an issue: highlighted are areas that would probably work best for paint ability.
Who says paintable weapons will use the existing paints? What if they release paints exclusive for weapons? That would help with not having ugly colors like pink be put on weapons.
This is what I think they will do, if they add paintable weapons. It's also the best, business wise, since paints are basically worthless right now, so starting fresh with new items will inflate their value for awhile, especially if they don't drop, as recent paints do not.
Same with the Cow Mangler. I do wonder how they will handle paintable weapons though. They are obviously working on it (Mannhattan's shovels, red herring in the small easter egg in spawns) Maybe they will limit the colors
That or it could all just be a joke on the player's behalf, judging by the price tag on those painted shovels (showing how underhanded and sneaky "Mahnko" is when it comes to charging people for top of the line fashion when really it's all just garbage), and the red herring acting as a... a red-herring. I for one, think it would be a very bad idea to enable paints on weapons unless it is a very very very very very very VERY subtle way of customizing your weapons, the weapons need a recognizable shape, and they all have a unique color to them which makes them stand out from their defaults. Now imagine if you could paint the default baseball bat brown in a style similar to the red-herring. You can easily trick people into thinking you've got a sandman and you're going to stun them or have lowered health. It's the same shape as the sandman, and the same color, it must be the sandman. Or imagine if the baseball itself can be colored team colored. Players will be wondering if that's an ornament (bleed damage) or a baseball (stun). You gotta remember, in game we all have a split second to determine what weapon an opposing player is using, and what could potentially harm us in battle. Coloring those weapons can only make things more complicated when they do not need to be so.
paintable weapons? fucking no thanks.
It was a Vita Saw, actually.
also the painted cow mangler also ended up getting painted lasers somehow too (????).
also the painted cow mangler also ended up getting painted lasers somehow too (????).
Not anymore, it used to though. Ever since they change the cow mangler particle it's the same color as usual.
also the painted cow mangler also ended up getting painted lasers somehow too (????).
Yes. As Zadrave noted it doesn't anymore because of the particle change.
its literally invisible.
I'm perfectly fine with killstreak sheens, thank you.
Imagine if painted weapons were just: new defindex, same model, new texture. They can still critglow! (also the schema would cry)
There should just be advanced options to turn off paints, unusual effects and hats. For those who want them.
Do we really want those obnoxious Pink/LimeGreen scouts to be even more Pink/LimeGreen?
Do we really want those obnoxious Pink/LimeGreen scouts to be even more Pink/LimeGreen?
If you haven't noticed, most people agree that paintable items shouldn't have options for overly garish colors. For example, limiting it to only team colored-paints would be a good start, and some dark neutral tones could be accepted, like Radigan brown or Aged Mustache Gray.
purple could also work due to purple being a mix of red and blue.

why not make it so paints work in a different way than they do cosmetics? make it so any colors that are not team-colored or below a specific level of intensity/saturation/whatever be automatically toned down upon application. they can do that, right? make it so adding lime or pink to a gun will add the color at a much lower threshold to where it's still unique, but not overly garish like their current versions or alternatively, they could just release a weapon-specific series of paint that's available for weapon use only, that would use specialized versions of the existing colors that are much more neutral and toned down in comparison to their cosmetic counterparts, such as darker pinks and limes that blend into the background and with the rest of the colors a little more. that could kill two birds with one stone as it could allow them to monetize more paints while being able to add weapon paintability in a way where it won't greatly interfere with what's currently established.
Instead of making weapons paintable by normal paints, they could release "style kits" for weapons, which change the color of few parts. Similar to use like Killstreak Kits. This way, there wouldn't be pink or lime colored guns. For example a "metal style kit" which changes wooden parts to look grey/silver.
If we get paintable weapon, maybe the best thing to do would be to assign each paint to a material, and add a line to the schema specifying which material is being painted. That way we'd have wood specific paint, metal specific paints, neon paints...
