Would be cool if it at least had back stories for the mercs. Like a level of the Soldier in his youth fighting Germans. Then have a tie in with the Medic story.
Assassination missions for the sniper.
Battlefield 2: MC style hotswapping anyone?
I don't know, it doesn't seem like a story mode would work with the narrative built up for TF2. The whole point of TF2 is that BLU and RED are fighting over plots of land that are split between the Mann brothers, but it has been a constant stalemate. I don't see how they would be able to get some kind of story arch when the whole point is that both teams are evenly matched and never get anywhere.
Only if it had Co-Op with all the characters if then fuck yeah.
It would be cool if throughout the campaign it followed the origins of each of the characters also... Even though it's never gonna happen lol
Yeah, could make sense if the missions are about the backstory of the characters. Anything else would just fail.
Deathmatch games with singleplayer story are often very boring. I really hated the story modes in UT because of the deathmatches
Deathmatch games with singleplayer story are often very boring. I really hated the story modes in UT because of the deathmatches
I agree with that, but it doesn't have to be deathmatch in the singleplayer too.
I think it would be alright.
I don't, only for the reason I like Valve's way of telling the story, by teaching you about each character's history, and putting things into the game relevant to the plot.
TF2 setting would be great for a Singleplayer, but the current class system isn't good for SP.
I like the idea of single player mercenary "training". You play as each of the classes, you recieve your equipment, and you have to perform tests to prove your worth. Possibly, and I don't know how this would pan out, the characters would have to earn/improve their abilities. For example, Medic's new to the Medigun, so it takes him longer to build up an Ubercharge. However, over time, his skill improves and it becomes easier to gain Ubers.
I'd say Tf2 Needs it.
Story mode will suck, think about the sandvich and the REAL engineer(from meet the video) you'll realize that tf2 doesn't need story mode.
Who said it has to be singleplayer? I'd just like to see a bonus mission or two around each characters backstory.
Story mode would be very good, as long as it wasn't single player only.
A TF2 Campaign will have to a be a standalone game to work without having to make major tweaks. I think Valve maybe slowly working up to a TF2 Campaign with the storyline...But Sooner or later time will tell.
A map with season and day/night cycles would be cool.
I liked TF2 better when it was first released.
Change "No! I hate story modes!" to just "no", because people can like stories in games, just not in TF2.
As much as I like the idea, I'd like my TF2 to not grow another 4gb.
Imagine a tf2 map. Make it larger. Imagine the L4D co-op system, item system, and basically everything from L4D minus the zombies and stuff. Make it 9-player. Mix them. Psyche.
Doesn't have to be a single player story mode, think about Unreal Tournament 3. Multiplayer campaigns.
I doubt Valve is going to make one, so modders get crackin'.
if some really dedicated person decided to do this, it could be posibble. but they would have to make sure that... 1. everyone stays on one team 2. a code to make robots as enemies (so team red could be AI enemies, and blu could be the real people like acheivment servers) 3. they would have to make MORE robots for NPCs that give quests... 4. they would have to find a way to compress the map because a huge map will take forever to download 5. they would probably want to implement some type of level gaining bar (that shows like EXP) and somehow make it so EXP saves to each account... if someone actually was capable of doing all this, then i say go for it. all i know is that i cannot.
I personally would love if valve made a story mode for TF2. It could be a set of missions but each pushes the cart forward.
Fixed. Although on a serious note it could be about some sort of ultimate payload, that spans several maps, and lots of fancy adventures. Like power goes out and you gotta cap some points to get it running again.
Yes the tutorial felt kinda like a mini story mode.
Something like CsCZ: Deletet Sences, maybe? Just better.
I think a real sort of immersion into the tf2 feel of a base could be used to create gameplay like the battles from meet the spy. Which would make me nnnnngh! my pants.
