More skill then a demo. A soldier has to evade crap while trying to fire a projectile weapon. This means that we have to have different aim. All demos do is sit and wait for an idiot to pass.
Because he's a defence class. The hell people, is this hard to understand? Demo is defence, Soldier is offense.

I know the demo is defensive, so he camps a lot, but that still does not take away from the fact that it is easier to defend then attack. Even so, the soldier is not quite as offensive as you think. He is (currently) one of the most well rounded classes we have. Being so, he is easy to play as a defensive and offensive class. With this update, the direct hit seems to be a single target type of weapon. So it seems more of a defensive unlock. With the close range kit, the demo seems to be taking a step towards the attacking side. We shall see.

I can't wait. [editline]01:09PM[/editline]
With this update, the direct hit seems to be a single target type of weapon. So it seems more of a defensive unlock. As much of a leap and bound ahead of the default rocket launcher as the sniper rifle is over the hunstman. That does not, however, mean it's better. Rocket launcher will be good for chaotic combat situations, sentry nests, and edging enemies and sentries. Direct Hit will be more for in combat fighting, heavy killing, and point clearing. As for the close combat kit.... It's just awesome.
Have you even played soldier ? 1 rocket does maximum of 110 damage, you need atleist 2 to kill a demo, and soldiers take more self damage than a demoman...
-But a hit with rocket is MUCH easier than a hit with Grenade Launcher, and still easier to hit with than offensive stickies. You have either to make an direct hit or be lucky enough to face a soldier so dumb he stands over a grenade rolling on ground. The stickies now have kinda long delay before being able to detonate, so you have always time to run out of the explosion radius to completely avoid it. With rocket launcher you can just aim at a close wall or at floor for a guaranteed damage. Grenade Launcher grenade does the same maximum damage as soldier rocket. -Soldier has rocketjumps that are pretty much instant and easier to pull off than demoman ones. -Soldier has more HP, while demoman is SLIGHTLY faster (still slower than most of classes). Dodging takes some degree of skill while just standing and taking more damage is what anybody can do. -Soldier has shotgun to finish runners. All demoman weapon projectiles are both slow moving and very unreliable at hitting targets that are running away. There is even more but I am not in mood for flaming today.
I never said anything about demo dont see why would you bring up the facts i know. Btw Nades do more damage than rockets (only slightly though) And while youre at it why dont you include that demo can output around 1.5k damage before reloading on medium range ? All i wanted to say is that 1 rocket cant kill a full health demoman (or even scout for that matter) You also didnt point out that you fly almost twice as far with sticky jump and it isnt any harder to do than rocket jump, in fact jumping into a distance with soldier is harder than a demo, with demo you jump over a sticky and detonate where solly has to do almost 180 turn, usually jump off a wall and turn back. Curved trajectory of nade is an advantage in most scenarios over a straight path rockets like spamming sentry nests, shooting upwards like on badlands spire and so on. I agree on shotgun, it really is a good weapon however give a demo choice of shotgun over his stickies and you would see similar if not better results than soldier.
Soldiers have 25 456 kill lead, according to newest blog.
They both take skill to be good at them. Anyone who says otherwise is dumb.
They both take skill to be good at them. Anyone who says otherwise is dumb.
everyone is dumb if they dont agree wit me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! soldier is to easy
everyone is dumb if they dont agree wit me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! soldier is to easy
*too grammar nazi reporting in. I contributed with 702 kills, but then i realised I had homework :byodood:
Thanks for the laugh, awesomecake. Demoman is clearly the noobier class.
Did you even read he post you replied to? Even Valve has said "WORLDS EASIEST CLASS AHEAD", referring to the Soldier. Demoman is harder to play than Soldier. [sp]King of P2[/sp]
It's easier when you have time to prepare it, which you mostly can't afford. Even tho soldier jump requires some aiming and timing while not giving that big jumps, you can pull it off almost instantly. Demoman jump, (and manly the "better one" can be a question of seconds, which you don't always have. Also, these megajumps are hardly usable as they leave you with minimal health left, being an extremely easy target.
Curved trajectory of nade is an advantage in most scenarios over a straight path rockets like spamming sentry nests, shooting upwards like on badlands spire and so on.
It might be an advantage for skilled shot who knows where the grenades are actually going to land after shooting at given angle. Again, even if it was about the same difficulty to aim the Grenade Launcher as aiming the Rocket launcher, you still have the instant splash damage at impact location around rocket while grenade which is not direct hit takes few seconds to explode, rolling around and being kinda visible.
lOL I TROL YOU!1!!!
It's easy *for you* because you're skilled at the game.
Did you even read he post you replied to? Even Valve has said "WORLDS EASIEST CLASS AHEAD", referring to the Soldier. Demoman is harder to play than Soldier.
That is something called a joke. And I will admit that soldier is easier to play, but they both take skill to be proficient with them.
well, as of noon, we won. Yay us :D
