I hope the parachute will be as bugged as the payload cart and sometimes perform some funky backflips
Weren't new weapons confirmed a while ago by McVee? I mean, if we get new weapons for both EotL and the Moon Base update, I'd probably cry. cuz they'd be banned this ugc season ;_;
Weren't new weapons confirmed a while ago by McVee?
He said they're possible maybe perhaps and that's about it.
Imagining a dead soldier falling from the sky in a parachute.
Would be no doubt a interesting sight to see if they managed to rig his ragdoll to the still active chute
I hope the parachute will be as bugged as the payload cart and sometimes perform some funky backflips
Even better, it affects the client view. One second you're airstrafing, the next you're spinning wildly in the air firing rockets in every direction.
Cool
I still love the idea of a Facestabber. Maybe it's because I would be able to annoy so many people if it became part of the game. Scout running at me, scattergun ready? SMASH M1.
man, i was happy through the whole post until they basically confirmed a weapon that will break soldiers
man, i was happy through the whole post until they basically confirmed a weapon that will break soldiers
Oh yes, how dare they introduce a secondary weapon for the Soldier that is a fairly unique idea and isn't the Buff Banner.
Oh yes, how dare they introduce a secondary weapon for the Soldier that is a fairly unique idea and isn't the Buff Banner.
But the shotgun is the best secondary for soldier.
Oh yes, how dare they introduce a secondary weapon for the Soldier that is a fairly unique idea and isn't the Buff Banner.
well, unless they perfectly balance it, it'll be another phlog. otherwise, i think it would be fun to use
That's exactly why the facestabber is a terrible idea
I know it's a terrible idea but I just think it would be quite funny. I could also imagine that Pyro weapon being another way of getting Flare Gun + Axtinguisher. Flare Gun a Medic. Pull to you. Axtinguisher. Now that I say that, I know that I would hate it.
I know it's a terrible idea but I just think it would be quite funny.
Yeah, it would be fun until someone uses it on you. That's kind of a problem with some other weapons too (e.g. phlog).
haha guys this spawncamping is so funny lol why arent u laughing lol why are you all disconnecting lol
Oh god imagine a Pyro with that weapon spawncamping. Pulling people out of spawn.
well, unless they perfectly balance it, it'll be another phlog. otherwise, i think it would be fun to use
I don't really see how a soldier slowly floating to the ground as a huge target will be that broken. If the other team has a half decent sniper the item will more or less be useless unless they give the soldier some sort of protection from headshots.
Oh god imagine a Pyro with that weapon spawncamping. Pulling people out of spawn.
Well, that's enough to make it a terrible idea :v: Being able to move players and projectiles towards you is a bad idea in general. I'm kind of glad it messes up the whole prediction thing, so it doesn't have a chance of getting in. That would be disgustingly unbalanced. Airblast is bad enough.
Would be no doubt a interesting sight to see if they managed to rig his ragdoll to the still active chute
I'd be surprised if they did, though I have a feeling the chute will just drop/disappear as the soldier's ragdoll falls to the floor. But who knows? Hopefully I'll be wrong.
protection from headshots.
Please no.
man, i was happy through the whole post until they basically confirmed a weapon that will break soldiers
At least it'll stop them from breaking their legs :v:

If it is to be a secondary, a rocket jump would do about 40 damage. A direct hit rocket can do anywhere between 152 and 189 damage, so the parachuting soldier would be dead meat. That, and being in the air would make you more vulnerable to other stuff than you may think.
well, unless they perfectly balance it, it'll be another phlog. otherwise, i think it would be fun to use
I feel like, if it slowers the soldier's descent while rocket jumping, it'll be pretty balanced. Gives soldier an advantage as to controlling where he's going to land and going further distances, but makes it much easier for snipers to headshot him, or other soldiers/pyros with the reserve shooter to shoot him down.

Not that it couldn't be fun to use, but you're pretty much just asking for everyone to shoot you.
At least it'll stop them from breaking their legs :v:
Nah. The parachute should definitely have a 1/6 chance of failing on deploy. :v:
I feel the idea can be used in interesting ways, it all depends on how well they balance the maneuverability the parachute gives you. It should be enough that it can be difficult to airshot them, but not near impossible. Being able to have extended airtime as a soldier can be advantageous to assaulting certain positions and can be a decent niche pickup on certain maps. This is all just theorycrafting though, we'd have to see it in action before we can really decide whether the item is useless, balanced or broken.
And this is why we need to have an open beta. RIP.

The weapon is gonna be about timing and proper activation. Jumping straight off the barracks in 2fort and deploying will surely get you killed, but using it near the exit of a tunnel or near a fairly open capture point will allow you to get the literal drop on the baddies. Call me an optimist, but I see good things ahead with this new addition to Soldier's arsenal.

As awesome this all is, don't the first three weapons seem like things they probably tested years ago instead of any time recently?
