I think it would have been cooler if in the beginning of the war players had the option of choosing between soldier and demoman, then you'd get a new weapon for the class you picked, and if that class wins the war you get to keep the weapon and the other class lose their weapons, but can earn the weapon that stayed by doing achievements/random luck. That would really motivate people into winning. I mean right now no matter who wins we all get new unlockables no?

Exactly; one shows the fright in the Soldiers eyes much more, but doesn't show a whole lot of the Demo's smirk, so it doesn't quite purvey the "mad with power" look as much as the second one does, though in the second one the Soldier's eyes are covered by his helmet a bit more so he doesn't look quite so scared.
