I went in attempting to do that, but then realized (after I didn't get anything) that the system was down.
Me too. I locked my milestones again, waited for the system, and it worked surprisingly. Try again when the system is up for you.
I know, i'm just saying, and personally i dont think its worth the risk, you know how valve are cracking down.
I didn't mean it in a mean way, sorry to have come off like that. It's going to be very ridiculous if Valve punishes us for fixing their own issue, but I'm sure there's no way to detect who used it for a fix and who didn't. Either way, I don't play TF2 much, so if they take away my weapons it's not a big deal to me.

I just did, no luck. It only gave them to me when I exited the server.
Well, locked my Milestones... But I can't "connect to steam" so I'm fucked until then.
Haha, that's what you get for playing the game instead of cheating.
Hey speaking of SAM, I booted it up (VIstaX64) and all I got was black squares and a runtime error:

just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
For example:
<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I get you, and i do agree that it'd be petty if valve did take the weapons, especially if you unlocked the milestones legitimately the first time.
And so Facepunch learned a valuable lesson about acceptance and respecting the feelings of others.
But anyhow, did anyone else get the error I got? And does anyone know how to fix it?

Do you have this installed? If not, install it and try again. I'm on vista 64 as well and it runs fine for me.
I downloaded something SUSPICIOUSLY similar to that and it gave me an error saying it was already installed on my OS, but I'm going for it...

Son of a bitch, it's working now
All 3 solly milestones. Nothing D: . Got my mile stones yesterday. So booooooo!
I used SAM to lock the milestones, and i have all my weapons now. Hopefully they don't take any of my guns away.

Hopefully
Sorry valve, we are just impatient, we want to have fun with new weapons
and we are re-locking them, so who cares, we already had em
Valve why do you have to give free weekend with the update!!!!!!!!!1
If Valve wants to punish me for fixing their own problem myself, they can have fun and do that. In the meantime, I'll enjoy my sword, shield, and direct hit.
I don't understand why the vast majority of you feel so goddamn entitled? This forum is full excitement when there's a new update on the table. Granted, most of the threads are mind-numbing reposts full of shit links and dumb comments, but when content is finally released, everybody has something to complain about.
They put a good deal of time in to these updates (this one in particular), which included a lot of after-hours work and even a weekend push. Stop your bitching and have some patience; when you've got increased server load, things don't always work as planned.

I am entitled. I got the milestones fair and square, I deserve my weapons. I want to enjoy the new content as it comes out same as anyone.
I'm not complaining about the content itself, I'm complaining how they didn't have their shit in gear and how I'm missing out simply because my milestones unlocked at the same time the system died. No need to be so defensive for Valve, this is a perfectly reasonable and valid complaint. Why should I have to wait while the lucky few who did get their milestones working right off the bat have all the fun? I think the people who are calling Valve cunts over a free update are the people you need to be lecturing, not I.
I just want all the weapon drops that I haven't gotten, played for 4 hours and not a single weapon drop.
That's fucking retarded. you cant get all the milestones without getting achievements using unlockable weapons.
The only one I don't have is the Eyelander. I made sure to only earn achievements when the Steam servers were up. :smug:

Yeah, they TOTALLY shouldn't have advertised their product for free and gotten a few hundred more customers. That was OBVIOUSLY a terrible idea.

Didn't have their shit in gear?
All of these complaints are absolutely baseless. You simply cannot control how your servers will perform when releasing such a large update. It's quite obvious that the majority knows absolutely nothing about the infrastructure required to keep these games going, so this argument will continue forever without end.
You were one of the thousands of people (myself included) who didn't receive their items as intended; does it really add up to anything more than a small inconvenience? The cloud servers are certainly flaky right now and it's already been made public that they're aware of the performance issues -- are you looking for some type of consolation gift in return for the trouble you've had?
You're receiving regular, free, quality updates for a game that's almost three years old. Additionally, no other company out there goes to such length to communicate with their player population. You have no reason to complain -- be patient, show some love.
Demoman milestone 2.
Still no Sword or Charge n Targe.
Wow. Do you guys not understand that Valve realizes there is a problem and is fixing it? They've made a post about it on their blog. They'll fix it, no use complaining.

You act like all complaints are invalid simply because of an honest mistake, and it's not true. Again, this is a perfectly valid complaint. I'm not your typical "OMG VALBE IS SO GHEY CUZ DEY RUEND TEE EFF TOO!!!11ONE1!" idiots and I hate that you think I am one of those brainless chimps. I understand their servers got hit harder than they expected, and no, I'm not looking for any type of consolation gift nor did I come off like I did want one. Valve is my favorite developers, but what you need to realize is just because someone has a complaint doesn't mean they hate Valve. All I've done here is showing a method that worked for me and posted it here for those interested and don't want to wait for what they're entitled to. Nothing more, nothing less.
