out of that list I posted the laser guns are probably the best as a practical weapon. it fits the theme, there's already giant lasers in the game (Gravelpit C, probably some other places) and you could have some fun effects like setting people on fire and whatnot. plus you could give it to the engy
And as a bonus the theme gives me a chance to sneak in the challenge I accepted and forgot about completely about a silenced RPG.
Temporarily turn off the beta Heavy skin so you can compare it to the actual TF2 art style properly.
At a glance I'd say it's a little too dark, mainly the ammo box and drum.
Ugh.

Better?
hm... could someone replace the bullet belt on Natasha with the kind bullets heavy wear??
unrelated but would you guys be okay with these colours for a rivet gun for engineer?
drex drew the image ages ago and I just got bored and slapped some colours on it (so design is likely to massively change)

the colour scheme is kinda to make it NOT be like the shortstop, where you can't even tell if it's the shortstop or the pistol, and kinda to make it look a bit steampunk or w/e
[editline]8th December 2010[/editline]
I mainly ask coz you guys tend to be whiny palette purists ;)
god i love steampunk, that should be a theme for an update
that'd give me a nice headstart!

Might look fugly.
Might look fugly.
then how about replacing the bullet belt heavy wears with the ones on Natasha, sentries and dispensers?
You know i'm crazy about consistency
that'd look worse i think though....
Another option that I thought about now: Steampunk Set.
If the steampunk models get done (sorry, I forgot who was working on it), it'd be hella nice to have everything else steampunkish too. :v:

I think the bullets heavy wears are Sasha's cartridges and the ones Natasha uses are different, so it kinda works like it is now. And it would look even more fugly that way round yes.

That would be burning the corpse of the artstyle, though.

if its the skinpack you're talking then that's me, and since theres a bunch of steampunk models being done atm (well one that we can hope to see released) i'm forcing myself to release an initial release ASAP
I'm currently getting my account enabled so i can get some stuff done

i'm fairly sure he was talking about mods and not as official
I am all in favor of a Steampunk Pack.
Wow, how did so many Emporium pages go by while I slept?
Gentlemen!
After Shugo asked me for my uber vmt it inspired me to create a new, better one. And here it is!

To be honest, I really don't see a difference. Blue Heavy looks more purple and you applied a normal map, but that's about it.
Also on the topic of uber normal maps since I keep getting asked to put them into my mod - I'm not going to. I think the ubers look much better without them in that it makes the characters appear more smooth and metallic, which reinforces the image that they're invulnerable. If you want to tell Valve to use normal maps for ubers, go ahead; I'd rather leave that decision up to them. For now my main focus is just making the textures underneath the ubercharge effect not look terrible, which I believe I've succeeded in doing.

Do want, very muchly. I loved the concepts of Steam Fortress 2.
I'm kinda leaning towards Murphy's version.
I don't get it. I have looked everywhere and there are literally NO proper world animation tutorials. I know how to animate the models but I can not get them in game. It is such a massive pain and all of those who know how to do it don't want to share their knowledge.
Why.. whyyyyy, all I want to do is to replace a taunt and see my animations in game.
steampunk is hideously overdone (and also incredibly misunderstood. sticking a load of brass plates and gears and cogs and steamjets all over everything is not steampunk :I)

Basically I added those normal maps because it looked really flat- boring. Not a single new texture needs to be done- I use for coloring the invuln fx texture that is already in the gcf's. The skin got its purple-ish color back which is good in my opinion. If you cant really see a difference- in a point thats good. I hope you see the texture differences though. Means I nailed the ubercharge effect perfectly.

True but I couldn't really think of a better word for it. I was going to say "like Bioshock" but I don't think BS really has all that much bronze on its weapons, idk

How comes it's a different colour if it's the same VTF as Shugo is using?
[editline]8th December 2010[/editline]
Where is the autoedit :colbert:

Well could you at lest tell me -exactly- what you did? Obviously if it looks different then you did something else.

I use for coloring the $detail commands in the vmt. I dont know how Shugo did it, but the color seems to be quite different compared to the original.

I promise you guys, I will right get to work and finish the ubercharge effects and release it. No other projects.

it looks amazing but it has the same problem as the Natasha. The ammo belt is feeding the wrong way making it so the empty casings fling at you when you fire it, I think you could get away with just flipping the model.

Less ammo belt, please. It's always seemed like a tacky ornament to me, not like a raging flow of ammunition.

So, what's our theme?
Winter, 60's Sci-Fi, Steampunk?

Don't forget Espionage.
But I think we should keep brainstorming ideas first, perhaps polycount has a pack that had a good theme.
