Right then, I'm submitting around 24 new sounds to valve that are for weapons (mainly guns) that don't currenly have them and is felt needs them. You'll probably recognise a lot of them from shugo's fixed sounds because they are from it, but I've decided to submit them now. Here's the ones I've done: Kritzkrieg Crusader's Crossbow Brass Beast fix (wind up sound skip) Bleed weapons (shiv, southern) Bludsauger Frontier Justice Iron Curtain Loch n load Scottish Resistance Battalion's Backup Ullapool Caber (break/'smash' sound) So before I send them off, I need you lot to think of more that I've missed out and you think certainly need new ones.
I think a couple of the melee weapons like the pain train, homewrecker, powerjack, candy cane, boston basher, and back scratcher could use some to help differentiate them from each other's shared sound effects if they haven't been touched up upon already.

Although I suppose most of you will prefer waiting for NeoDement to finish his own killicons. Oh, also the Boston Basher, the Candy Cane, the Loch-n-Load, the Claidheamohmor and the Brass Beast don't use the new killicons since they were defined to use old killicons, I can't really fix that unless I go and modify items_game.txt. And the Caber doesn't have an explosion killicon, unfortunately.
I shall wait, but you don't know how tempting it is to get that.
Blog post about item_test incoming. I think.
AWSOME SAUCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! /over enthusiasm
Listen up, Private Poppinfresh! You're not ready to handle one of these! A man's rifle is his only friend. It's designed for assault. Shotguns are designed for hunting geese and hidin' out in the wilderness like some kind of hippy! This is my rifle, there are none other like it, because this one is mine! It has a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a bayonette for close encounters of the maggot kind. It feels no pain, no pity, no remorse, and it will not stop ever until you are dead! CUH-RIT! Blame Neo, it's all his fault. 2119 polies.

Everyone knows the soldier improvises even when there is a clip to clip it on.
Reminds me of a cut weapon from New Vegas.

It looks too much like string right now.
The rope still needs a lot of texture work. It looks too much like string right now.
I know. I just suck at texturing.

(And with your walnut stockthing going in that intro, look at an ar-10, BAR, Tommygun or MG34 for a fitting stock of wood) The magazine is just wrong both for ergonomics, style and realism if you are trying at that. Try looking at an AR-10 style waffle instead. (also, I fucking love waffles) The bolthandle is simply wrong and a little too finicky for TF2 in my opinion. (remove it) Bayonet has wrong proportions, blade should be longer, fingerguardthingy you have should you just remove. The rear sight and carry handle should be taller and less bended. Grip doesn't look like it will fit at all. The Frontsight is horrendous, look some more at that kind of sights please And lastly, add more tape.
Is there anyway to make the hud of the character you are playing wear the hat you are wearing in game? Also the same for the menu when you choose classes? I'm guessing not but it doesn't hurt asking.

The slats/whatever are a little too frequent and it looks questionable to me.
Right then, I've been practicing textures as I've been feeling a bit rusty. Can I get everyone's opinions on which they think is better and why?

But the first one has a nice balance of dark and light metal that makes it look nicer In some way. Just add some dark parts to the second one. Oh, and that blood stuff on the end of the bow of the crossbow on #2 looks odd. [editline]22nd December 2010[/editline] Page king again... :toot:
7085 polies... still under the 8000 poly limit for submissions, but it's a tad high... I'm not too happy with the jungle style clip, might remove that...
As long as there is some LoD, I don't think poly limits are much of a problem.

Carl is right. Half of the things (almost everything) you make look NOTHING like what you're intending them to look like.
I think you went over board with tape. Just what had soldier been doing with that? He take it to one of his own personal tours and beat every bugger and there home to a pile of dust with it? I do presume it is for soldier... some how
Also, the only tape part that looks somewhat good is the tape around the bayonet, keep it up.

It's not "technically" wrong, he never said it was the weapon you are posting, i understand your critcism, but he's the modeller not you.
As some of you may already know, a few weeks ago I got an e-mail from Robin. He noticed I hadn't submitted all of my Fancy vs. Nasty stuff yet (I only submitted them after improving them somewhat and I hadn't gotten to much of them yet) and he asked if I could submit the rest. Exciting as that was I worked my ass off that week to update and package all 15 items from that update. I made all of my hats paintable, optimized and improved everything and basically re-did Madame Dixie and the Crocleather Slouch from scratch. I also took note some of the suggestions I've had from the community since then, mostly regarding color schemes and proportions. For instance, note that Madame Dixie now uses the Pyro's color scheme instead of the shades of purple and pink that don't appear anywhere else in the game. Suttles asked me to post the new Crocleather Slouch, I reckoned you might find it interesting if I dress it up a little with interestesting facts and pretty pictures. Hopefully it will have been worth the wait. Thanks for listening and my favorite class is the Spy. Nodes nodes nodes
Fancy!
So wait, will the other hats get in as well? If that's gonna happen then he should add more submitted hats while he's at it.
So wait, will the other hats get in as well? If that's gonna happen then he should add more submitted hats while he's at it.
I didn't say that. They are fully done and submitted though.
Cool, what about that island update then?
I love how the amazing Celtic Crown didn't get it, yet the crappier Prince Tavish's Crown did. Maybe you could get Robin to make the Celtic Crown craftable by adding some refined metal to the normal crown? Obviously the Celtic Crown would not be craftable with the 3/4 refined or 2 hats recipe, nor would it be buyable. It would be a very rare hat.

I can live with that. If I wasn't actually a skeleton :yohoho:
I don't see why they didn't put in the new Croc Leather Slouch, it would have easily been amongst the best Sniper hats.
