But it isn't worth it, it takes a ridiculous amount of items to even get enough scrap to make such an item, you have a better chance of finding it.

It looks like it's just hats, and while I like that there's a semi-sort-of-reliable system for getting hats I feel like that defeats the purpose of having a crafting system.
I used all my crappy duplicates that I've collected since... Well, since the drop system came out. I have one scrap metal and two refined metal, as well as a Spy token.
it would be cool to get better blueprints as random drops. ( like x1 gun = x1 scrap metal, x1 scrap metal = x1 reclaimed metal, etc.)
The inventory is so glitchy I have a bills hat.

You can also make weapons, here's the blueprint for it from the steam forums:
* Fabricate Class Weapons
1 Class Token + 1 Slot Token + 1 Scrap Metal = 1 Class Weapon (Ex: 1 Pyro Token + 1 Secondary Slot Token + 1 Scrap Metal = Flaregun)
I've lost 8 weapons because of crafting failure, and I can't access my briefcase either.

You don't unlock it, it just shows up in your list after you craft 2 hats. They have to be random drops, though.
I crafted my Pickelhaube and hatless Sniper, but all I got was a Scotsman's Stovepipe. I'd be fine with that if it wasn't almost identical to the Gibus.

I keep seeing people finding Crafting stuff (Scrap Metal, Class Tokens, etc.) but I can't tell if they're crafting in-game and it shows what they made or they are actually randomly finding the stuff.
Are crafting items random drops? :confused:
Crafting in their loadout, it shows that they found it in-game.

You think that's bad? I dominated someone with a Ghostly Gibus Hat and the game said I got it.

I DID get a direct hit though. Random drop ftw.
I crafted my mining light and football helmet and got bald Engi
I mixed three refined metals together, it ate them up, and I didn't get the reclaimed metal.
Crafted the Gibus and Bills hat = fail
nothing from this :(
3 sandviches gave me scrap.
i had a crafting failure (i crafted 4 huntsmans and nothing happened then they disappeared).
i restarted and joined a server and then it gave me a token as soon as i joined.
if the same failure happens to you, try restarting and joining a server.

I'd assume PDA means the Engie's build device, but what's with the grenade? Demoman primary customization or Borderlands' grenade mod?
