MAJOR TF2 update for 10/29/13 (Fifth Annual Scream Fortress) - Games

I've validated TF2's cache and switched game servers to no avail. It just sits there. When I run it, it runs but isn't updated. No Halloween stuff, it's the purple-black missing material texture (see: my avatar)

well, my game won't start updating, so I'm just gonna say that from the screenshot helltower looks like the laziest reskin ever it just looks like hightower almost 1:1 but there were some skeletons and shit

So are the Octostep sounds a part of this update or no?

Huh, ScreamFortress is usually what brought me back to TF2 from time to time, but this one failed horribly in doing so.

I unboxed over 150 crates last halloween and got absolutely nothing, let's see how I do this year.

So is there currently any solution to the item server crapping out? I just want to get the spells.

I have not played more than 5 minutes without crashing twice on Helltower.

I've crashed on Helltower 3 times with no more of 10 minutes of gameplay now

Unless there's some yet to be seen effect tied to the item it's essentially only good for a cheap, occasional laugh.

The Tuque Or Treat and Magical Mercenary were the hats I said I was going to buy if they were added. And thus I did.

So yeah I'm in the boat of "can't even update the game", I've validated, restarted steam, restarted my computer, deleted clientregistry, all that stuff. Anyone got any fixes or am I doomed to a sea of black and purple checkerboards?

It's a real shame we didn't even get a new weapon or two, Scream Fortress is nice but it only lasts until early November, and after that we can't even use a hat from it. It would be nice to have a new weapon to spice up the gameplay a bit.

2 questions. How do skeletons appear? What is the book for?

i tried to spawn a skeleton in gmod and it crashed instantly.
