They have made the Demoman offensive with these weapons, which I don't mind to be honest since he is a perfect defender with the old weapons anyway Think about him as the 10th class that focuses on melee or something.
The Scottish Resistance is amazing.
With the sco. res. you only have to be looking in the general direction of the stickies, even if there isn't a line of sight, but, i do agree, it does feel like a nerf 9 times out of 10.
Eyelander is awesome, even against competent players. Look, you can jump into bunch of soldiers, shoot a few grenades randomly, and chop at least 2 or 3 heads without taking any major damage (thanks to the huge damage reduction from explosives). Kill a few players, and you're almost invincible because you're faster than a Scout, with as much health as a Soldier. The Targe is really efficient for killing weak enemies who are retreating (or getting away with your intelligence), you're always guaranteed a full length charge and a crit. And it's incredibly awesome for escaping as well, you can even use it while carrying the intelligence. As for the Scottish Resistance, I think it's completely useless. It would be way better if Valve increased the firing rate, or at least the clip size, because else, it's really just a weapon made for camping purposes, which sucks hard. I can't even setup all 14 stickies at once because of the insane reloading time.

What good is a chargin' slashin' Demo against sentry camp or just about any enemy that can fire bullets and can dodge? After the charge he's either left with slashing around and hoping he gets a kill or grenades, which is very poor for self defense unless they can score direct hits
Remember when people wanted the Nailgun when the Scout update was announced? If they didn't want it in the first place they ain't releasing an unlock like that.
Yes, but what would the Nailgun have been save for a remodeled Syringe Gun? Christ, how about we just give Medic a pair of wooden shoes that make him 50% faster? You'd get the exact same effect.
It makes the Demoman completely unstoppable in small areas. Go to 2fort and watch two Demomen with the swords. They'll kill anything in their way, easily. It just ruins the pace of the game.
Keep in mind that Valve wanted to put in a "charge" class, or a melee class. So I guess they figured they would try to make Demo one rather than create a new class.
That's what we have Battle Medics for.
What good is a chargin' slashin' Demo against sentry camp
Grenades. Learn to use them. They are much more efficient for taking sentries out than you think. It's exactly like the Direct Hit, if you're good enough with the grenade launcher so you don't rely on your precious sticky bombs, it will make you much more efficient.

I agree OP about the demo's new weapons. They really don't fit the class. Also I think the Direct Hit is OP because it can one shot 125 HP classes, and in the hands of a good soldier, there's nothing you can do against it.

I see you posted this exact thread on steam forums. I didn't know how retarded they were until I read their responses. Holy shit.
I always wanted a sword in TF2, now i can die happy.
the sword and the shield ruined the game.
I see you posted this exact thread on steam forums. I didn't know how retarded they were until I read their responses. Holy shit.
These are the types of people who wanted unlocks like this, Valve is just catering to the stupidest of their audience (95% of the steam posters) That being said, I'm still amazed by how stupid they can be
Without it, you'll rarely be able to pull off a melee kill without being spotted at a distance and blown to bits before you can reach the enemy
Why the flying fuck are you running straight at your enemy with your melee weapon out the sword without the shield is basically just any other melee weapon, you'd die horribly if you tried charging them with the bottle too oh and the scottish resistance is actually the best weapon in the update hth
the sword and the shield ruined the game.
haha wow and we say we're so much better than the steam forums but then you get posts like this :Dawkins102:
The Sword and Shield is the most fun I have had in TF2 in a long time. It's like the Pyro and Spy combined. I love the weapons, I love the way they play an handle, I love everything about them and I can see very good uses for them. It's funny suprising people with just how fast the charge is. It's an ambush and shock and awe weapon. You might think it's useless and stupid but fuck you I'm having the time of my life. However, I agree with the statement that the SR is useless.

I think they're meant to enhance the offensive capabilities of the demoman, much like the Scottish Resistance enhances the defensive ones. As a demoman before the update, I often charged into groups of enemies shooting everything I had at em, often enough resulting in the group being turned into gibblets. The end result was that you got raped by the next demo or soldier while trying to reload. The sword and shield just gives teams a lot more power to create chaos amongst enemy groups and withstand the usual explosion rape that gets you.
Can anyone give me a link to the Steam powered forum thread? I want to read those comments :v:
I DID see demomen charging with a whiskey bottle and critting the shit out of my teammates. :raise:
the scottish resistance is a really nice concept and incredibly powerful in right hands i dont have enough cordination to use it (thats why i dont play demoman in the first place) so i suck with it but i can see it's potential, and the sword is a joke really, so far its ridiculously imbalanced but i see it being horrible after a few days, its easy for me to die to scouts since they give a huge amount of damage and retreat out of the range of the sword, but really, if people get used to the scottish resistance demoman could still be what he used to be, and if you use the scot with the sword, you could use the sword just like you use the bottle, dont need to use it aways but if there someone next to you, bang his head off, i used that, i failed because i cant use the scottish but got a few heads but really, i dont play demoman, and im using the sword because its ridiculously funny to do so, and i want to use it util i get bored of it or util its useful, works so far also on side note, i think they made MUCH cooler weapons for demoman than for soldier, okay soldier weapons are well planed, extremelly useful, and bring the new way to play the class but, they arent as cool as a fucking sword and a multi mine layer
The demoman is still a demo class, because valve cleverly decided not to replace the grenade launcher. And you don't HAVE to use the sword and shield. You still got the sticky launcher and the Scottish Resistance.
you sure? looks perfectly balanced to me.
Is this what you think when you hear the word "Demoman"

Demoman is (in my opinion) the hardest class to play for beginners. I guess they just wanted to set the bar down.
