Restarting whatever game it happens in will almost always fix it, though.
As others have said, it usually happens when the CPU is stressed and starts overheating.
Download [url=http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/]GPU-Z[/url]. Open it up and go to the Sensors tab. Check the "log to file" box and choose a place to store the temperature log. Minimize GPU-Z and fire-up TF2. As you play, it keeps track of your GPU's temperature. See if it's overheating. Probably is.
