Well, now the weakest class too.
the Ubercharge is huge and the most important thing about the Medic. no other class can do what he does and entire games can rely on how good your Medic is.
I find the crossbow pretty useful for taking out sentries when left unattended to.
why the fuck is your team relying on a medic to take down sentries?
It's not only the medic, the scout has been raped of his main abilities also. x2 capture for soldier/demo with a weapon Speed buffs for soldier/demo/heavy Might as well give the spy a double jump. The balance in this game is dwindling slowly.
capping points isn't the scout's 'main ability', it's his gigantic DPS and mobility.
When I play medic I get no thanks, no help, no protection and all the blame if things go wrong. Let's play medic!
Invite a friend and be his pocket medic. Friends are always more polite to you than random people at the internet, and they'll try to protect you.
I think I've only ever managed to get into a game with a friend once.
The amputator, while great, leaves you too open to every danger present in the game, you're easy to snipe, scattergun, rocket, grenade, minigun, melee, huntsman, flamethrower or what have you. It's a real alternative to the ubersaw, but it's something that won't see much use other than the odd moment due to the danger it poses. The crossbow is just a straight upgrade, the needleguns are just so useless that you wouldn't bother using them seriously anyway (well if you were running from a W+M1 pyro maybe), just in a vain attempt to try and survive against an enemy you're very very unlikely to kill. The crossbow allows you to give instant health back to a player you can't reach with your medigun provided you can land the shot, this is awesome and has so much application, you can just fire off a shot on a teammate you're approaching to get him healed much quicker, then switch to your medigun and continue from there. That suicidal heavy who is about to die fighting and you won't be able to reach him in time? Crossbow.
Are you kidding? The needlegun is the most perfect corner shooting weapon against sentries, it definitely beats the pistol.
This,i have no idea why engineer and sniper have anti-spy weapons while we have no anti-pyro weapons(Dead Ringer does not work anymore)
Every measure that extinguishes afterburn is an anti-Pyro weapon, stop your complaining.
In my experiences, most heavies care too much about getting their own kills to throw down a Sandvich for the poor doctor.
YOU CAN THROW THE SANDVICH????? /everyheavyever
Every measure that extinguishes afterburn is an anti-Pyro weapon, stop your complaining.
I hardly can survive 1 second if a pyro is W+M1 every where, even worse with Backburner
Whenever I'm a medic (usually all the time, it's my favorite class) my heavy always throws down a sandvich when I'm on fire. And whenever I see someone that's on fire and can't make it to a dispenser I always heal them... no matter what the situation. But really I wish more people would play this class. I've never used the Crusader's Crossbow either, so I wouldn't know.
What. I still play Medic. Still think he's a vital part of a team. [editline]15th January 2011[/editline] Medic is fine as he is
Yeah! I remember playing with you one time, you're so nice to us doctors.
Even if it costs me my life, being shot at in every direction, I will still find time to stop shooting and turn around to assist my Medic. He is the most valuable person on our team, y'know? And as a prime healing target for friendly Medics, I gotta make sure he survives too. If he dies, we all die.
Are you kidding? The needlegun is the most perfect corner shooting weapon against sentries, it definitely beats the pistol.
Sure it can take out a sentry around a corner, but that relies on the engy not being there to combat your actions, and when that's the case nearly ANY ranged weapon can take out a sentry. Plus you'd probably have a much easier time in that situation if you had a demo or soldier or heavy do the job for you while you built up your uber. Not to mention picking off only the sentry is fairly pointless if you're alone, because it's likely the engy had a dispenser nearby, and if you don't have your team there to push in after it's down it's just going to go back up again, and if your team was there to push in after the sentry went down I don't see why you couldn't have healed them while they took out the sentry instead.
It is indeed a little.. It's strongest with 2 or so people backing him up, even then you basically just gotta stay back, utilize covers and corners and keep a real hard eyeball for spies

I think what the medic needs is a weapon to ESCAPE, more than to fight. You know, if you give the medic a combat weapon, everyone will start: I'M NOT HEALER, I'M COMBAT MEDIC CAN'T YOU SEE!?. And that would ruin all the gameplay, so what medic really needs is a weapon with some buff or something to escape, you don't have a 100% uber all the time to escape..

I thought something that bases your damage done on how much uber you have may work. It encourages healing, but people may just fill their uber in spawn then run out and battle medic.
Medics win games. Is your team losing? Tell people to go Medic. You'll win a few minutes later.
The Medic is currently my favourite class. I keep trying to heal people but they like soloing the whole map so I just go melee-Medic with my Amputator. :saddowns:
I'm a mostly Medic player, so I can speak that they are a bit weak in most engagements. I find myself getting killed even when surrounded by dozens of allies, just from stray shots and splash damage. It doesn't help that those statistics are when I AM getting helped by my allies. When left alone I usually just die on route to find someone. Other than that, I can say that they are still appreciated by a select few players who will offer sandviches and teleporters.
Anyways, we all know valve wants the medic to be the weakest class of the game, cause the team is supposed to help the medic, and the medic supports the team. The problem is that the team just don't care about the medic! medic needs a something to make the team care about him more...or atleast a weapon to escape as I said. :v:
What the medic could use, is The Fists of Steel.

He just needs something that helps him to escape when alone and under attack, maybe it could boost his speed slightly with each hit, while slowing down the enemy being hit.
Other than that, I can say that they are still appreciated by a select few players who will offer sandviches and teleporters.
The problem is, is that it's a select few. No one seems to care about the teams medic anymore. I was just on 3 different servers playing as medic. All I got was people who let me die, heavies who non-stop were calling medic like they expected me to be their fucking slave (some of them never even used the fucking minigun) It was just general asshat-ery as everyone seems to care more about themselves then anyone who is supporting the whole team.
no one uses black box though
I agree, it's mostly the community that affects how useful a Medic is. You can be the best Medic in the world but that isn't stopping your team mates from not protecting you. I sympathize, I'm no career Medic but it definitely gets frustrating.
no one smart uses the black box though
Nothing is wrong with Medic, at all People don't play him because they want to be the action hero themselves, not his side kick, and don't give a shit about team work or winning the game
