Why would that make people rage?. Due to no SMG, it's really easy to kill a sniper from short/medium distance.
Hats just gave more life to the game, gave people another reason to play more tf2. It works from a business point of view.
I wear hats just for the heck of it.
Gibus and Halo shouldn't of been added; they're ugly and common. I look down on people who wear these hats.
Why all the hating on the Halo? The people you are complaining probably didn't get it, and are raging now.
Anyway, I use it with my Medic all the time, fits the Medic very well.
Only non-all-class hat I have is Demoman's Fro. So on every other class I've made it a point to use halo and earbuds to be the most hated mofo in town.
Until you realize that not everybody is a bigoted idiot.
Yup. They add limited customization to your character.
<3 Scout.
I love visuals and good design in a game, and the characterization of the classes in TF2 is really sweet. I think some of the hats work really well, and others just make it look really dumb. I know TF2 is cartoony but it still worked in complex visual design to go with its characters and some of the hats kill that straight way. Most of them are ok, like the pyros helmet and the cowboy hat, but some are just plain stupid and really kill some of the mood, at least for me. I think valve knows this too, they keep making fun of themselves about it like with the latest comic with robin :P
To fix the problem, they should just unlock all the hats, so elitism will fall. You can't be elite if everyone is able to get the same hat.

That idea is warmly welcomed. But it'll never happen.

yeah but the fun of getting a hat drop is gone
I can't say I care much for hats really. I just love my few combo hats I got right now.
Engie Combo:
Safe'n'Sound and Earbuds
Sniper RAGEEEE Combo:
Cheater's Lament, Earbuds and Razorback for ultimate pissing people off.
Pyro:
Hat:Gibus or Halo Misc:Mercenary or Earbuds Primary:Backburner
Ultimate rage class.
Medics usually latch on to me because of my badass drill hat :smug:
This reminds of when the Halo came out. I was in some random furry server with my friend, and everyone there was (of course) a total pussy. The medics would not heal people without halos. It was fucking insane, I got so pissed at the Halo that day that I deleted it. True story.
I wear Bill's Hat on every class because I have no other hats (other than Gibus and Halo) :frown:
I do have a Primeval Warrior and Soldier Medal though.
As I played I noticed he was doing fairly well but Medics wouldn't latch onto him and most of the time left him alone even when he called for help, later revealing that it's because he didn't have a hat on.
Well it's a good thing I have Elvis hair then.
I don't mind hats, they're a nice cosmetic detail that add a flair to certain characters. They're something to look forward to, I wait for the day when I get a Tough Guys Torque, Firefighters helmet and a magistrates mullet.

Are you being serious?
While I like the different aesthetics, I myself rarely if ever wear hats. True, that's because I don't have anything else than the Gibus, Bill's hat and that Halloween paper bag, but I sort of enjoy the vanilla look, too.
I like it when I see someone with literally no hat on. It makes me feel that there are still people out there willing to not wear that fucking gibus despite not having any other hat.

That's a big goddamn checkmark.
Well I like the Gibus on one class and one class only (Pyro), that's why I plan on replacing the OTHER classes' Gibus with skins.
I think of it this way: I replace the Gibus with skins/mods, so I have NINE hats, rather than one. I also think there are a lot of well-made custom hats, so I'm okay with swapping out a bland, battered, top hat with, say, Duke Nukem hair or a baccerat detector.
Speaking as a Heavy, I never really ran into many situations where Medics wouldn't heal me because I'm missing a hat. On the other hand, Medics usually stick with me over any one else, but that's because I say thanks a lot, like a proper gentleman.
