If you need help with mapping, you can add this guy.
Offered to give him a FP invite but he declined, he prefers discussing stuff directly via chat.
EDIT: Specifically if you want to make maps for TF2Kart
EDIT2: Which I guess you should, since A)The guy prefers if you send the maps raw, so you don't need to bother hacking in complex stuff B)It's honestly the best plugin of it's type I know of right now
where can I find the tf2 kart models?

I hope there's no Facepunch mafia out there, but I'm having trouble with keeping up with all posts from multiple sites.
Personally i imagined soldier in a jeep and heavy in a tank, but i guess it would work the other way around.

models/player/taunts/bumpercar
Found a way via sourcemod (untested :X) to change the model of a given kart.
Basically use OnEntityCreated() and test if the entity created is a tf_taunt_prop entity and if it has the kart model, then we can give it a custom model.
I'll make a short plugin to make the process simple (so you guys can already use civilian heavies as karts ;) )

Sorry but Heavy has something better than a tank

This would be way better as kart for Heavy.
probably already been suggested, but would it be worth it to try and port the pyro's car from sonic all-star racing?
Just give Heavy a Vandwich; a Sandvich Van.
Also going to be disappointed if Demo doesn't get a Sword Van.

am i the only one thinking of the heavy riding in a sandvich car (kinda like they did in the spongebob movie)
edit: ninja'd

Medic should ride Heavy instead, and Engi gets that 1 item that makes him piggyback another Engi.

this becomes relevant again now that vehicles are a thing.
Whats the best width for tracks, 512hu?
It's not as much about tracks being too wide as having a lot of curves. The best karting maps have no straightways at all.
True. Though i should be more specific, my bad.
I'm recreating a map from Mario Kart as practice, should i make the tracks 512hu wide for good scale?
I guess that depends on the track and the game, try and see what fits.
512hu is pretty much what width my track deviates around.
Width really depends on a lot of factors. Right now I'm keeping the track near and after the start somewhat wide and simple (600-700hu) because of the clusterfuck that will be the start of the race.
My current map generally suffers from having a lot of straights but to sort that out I'm littering all sorts of hazards and obstacles over it. I'm enjoying how creative you can be with these race tracks, some of the hazards you can create would never pass in a normal racing game let alone tf2. Creating shortcuts that are only accessible using the parachute jump spell (which is entirely useless otherwise) is great fun as well.

Ah Ladas, the pride of Russian engineering
If you dont see like 5 of these pulled over near the road fixing their engine you're not in Russia.
On a side note, I got knocked off the track on the duck map, I used my boost, and propelled myself up with the jump spell back onto the track. I went like super fast and almost went halfway around the map. It was some Fast and Furious shit right there
I hope to see more Custom TF2 looking Tracks then Ports or stuff that looks like it came from another game.

Then check out what this guy is making http://forums.tf2maps.net/showthread.php?t=23530
A small figure of 8-ish based track that slowly rises up and around a mountain. It's gon be gud finished.
so with the fact that they added damaging players with karts in the latest update, maybe some kind of kart team vs. foot team arena mod could be possible
the guys on foot have to shoot the karts to throw them out of the arena and the kart guys have to crash in the other team
This is a stupid question, but all these kart mods will still be around after the event ends, right?

I don't think Valve ever removed event props and commands. I know they removed some things but yeah.

If they do, I have the bumper car files on my computer. I'll mod that shit back in

I can just imagine Demoman firing Tiny's giant spiked ball projectiles and Pyro with Dingodile's flame projectiles right now.
Also I'm now tempted to remake Dot Dash using the bumper cars.
Cel Damage, anyone?
More progress on the Blue Falcon. Been working slowly on it, getting it to a point where I can be happy with it, and there's more work yet to do:

Some things to note:
-I based the back on the Mario Kart 8 version of the Blue Falcon. Almost every version of the Blue Falcon has these glowing bar things, so to make it a bit more visually interesting I added some heatshield-type things around them. They'll still glow in the finished version
-The wings still need to be changed to have rudders, I'm doing that next
-For those wondering about the SNES controller floating there, I decided to make it the "steering wheel" of the Blue Falcon. A small detail, but it's one I think is really cool, and I hope you guys like it too!

It's starting to look accurate so far, but the "steering wheel" just feels nostalgic. Keep it up.
