Well I've released a beta for my N.Gineer Labs Map [url]http://forums.tf2maps.net/showthread.php?p=313918[/url] The drive to actually make this releasable was very small since the whole bumper car racing thing has died. Hopefully more maps and consistent mechanics in them will raise the popularity. I wonder if it will even hit one of those racing servers. I still need to test this map with more than 5 people and that seems unlikely to happen.

[del]I think he might have lost the drive too, but IMO it goes both ways, if he'd polished it more it would remain popular. The only reason I'm not karting there anymore is that there are only few maps, two of which I have issues playing on (boosters on volcano don't show up due to my config hiding decals and the basic proof of concept map is too long and too boring). Actually InstantMuffin ninja'd you and came to me first. I might be able to get it compatible with tf2kart. The map will need some changing to accommodate the cart speed and I'll also need to put in all the stuff the plugin needs. Would be nice.

The model with that method is unable to be derendered when passing areaportals, so they simply stay in place when someone else's playermodel stops rendering. The areas where the condition is applied in doomsday don't have any areaportals at all, so they don't break there. That's why you see people riding invisible vehicles on custom servers. For our gamemode, we compile the vehicle model into the playermodel. It lets us have custom animations and prevents the player from driving an invisible car when driving through areaportals.

I'd really like to see maps based on classic TF2 maps like Badlands (as mentioned on the first page) or Granary. Foundry isn't that old but still could make a great map.
When you remove the fence right before the last cap area, Upward becomes a beautiful karting map.
I can picture a few areas in Thunder Mountain to be great areas for kart racing, too
