Does anyone else feel a little sad on the inside when they see the Gunslinger?

The way I interpreted the engineer was that he was the civilised sort of madman; yes, he may well be able to function in regular society and be the more sympathetic member of the team, but he's still completely willing to create merciless automated sentry guns, and then laugh maniacally as they rip into some poor bastard. He is also perfectly willing to threaten his employer with a broken spine. These are not the acts of a completely sane man.
But I digress. I fucking love the gunslinger.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the fact that when a character respawns, even when they have been gibbed to hell, they come back in one piece, so maybe, if the engineer doesn't wear his glove, his hand might come back if he dies. Although that doesn't explain the demoman's eye. However, this could be due to the way they are brought back. If it's cloning, than they may be brought back based on what biological blueprint the red/blu company have on the team member, and they should have a version of him with his hand, so when he doesn't want his glove, they just clone/revive the version of the engineer with both hands.
It was obvious in the trailer he was welding his hand.
It's really useful for offense.
I doubt he actually cut his hand off. Maybe he lost it years ago in an accident and had some weak one he made, and he just recently found the blueprints for the current one.
I think it's an awesome weapon, but I admit something feels a little sad when I look at it.
Like people have said... he seemed to be the most civil of the characters, now he's crossed into obsession by being willing to give up his right hand to become more powerful.

He's clearly very proud of his family, I think he's just carrying on his grandfathers legacy.
Engineer is....?????

True, that part made me feel a little better about the change.
Still I feel about the Gunslinger in a similar way to how some people think of Radigan's Australification, it removed a bit of his personality.
Yes but the engineer doesn't have a chainsaw for his hand now does he?
Then again he does have that gauntlet in Army of Darkness.
Doesn't have a chainsaw, but a weedwhacker :v:
I never thought he had a real hand under the rubber glove.
He takes off his hat out of politeness to meet Mister Mann, but not his glove?
It just means that under his glove was something disturbing. Either a broken mangled hand with robotic prosthetic attachements, or a full prosthetic hand.
So, to use the gunslinger, he only had to unscrew whatever was under the glove.

Mhmm, I could of sworn he didn't even have a hand to begin with.

Watch it again, he's holding the soldering iron in his gloved hand.
When someone visited Valve not too long ago, they said something in the teaser video was so popular they decided to make it an unlock. I'm betting it's the robot arm in the trailer that they turned into the Gunslinger.
On a related note, Frontier Justice + Gunslinger = best offensive Engie combo.

Or maybe it's something entirely different, yet even more complex? Maybe respawn takes a sort of "psychic snapshot" of every subatomic particle in your body as it is, and stores the information on an Australium hard-drive, which in turn is connected to a universal constructor in the spawn room, capable of reconstructing a fully-functioning replica from base elements in a matter of seconds. The Australium hard-drive is somehow connected telepathically to the mercenary, and it feeds the data into the Respawner at the instant of the mercenary's death, with the Respawner taking about 15 or so seconds to reconstruct the body.
In other words, respawn probably doesn't restore a merc to his/her prime, it just rebuilds their body based on the subatomic blueprints backed up on their hard-drive, imperfections an' all.
But the real question about respawn is whether the mercenary's original soul enters into the replica body, or whether it's animated by another spirit, and the original merc's ghost looks on in horror as some other long-dead spirit is reborn in their new body with their memories. If the latter is true, it would explain the whole "Painis Cupcake" deal, with Painis Cupcake actually being a malevolant and powerful spirit/demon that hijacked the respawn and overrode the memory restoration protocols.
What's wrong with me? I take something as simple as respawn and turn it into a fusion of arcane sorcery, dark mysticism, and extremely advanced technology...
It's definitely the most far out and creepy unlock ever in TF2.

Pff, that's silly.
Souls don't exist. :v:
Just a silly question since i couldn't played it,
Can you pick up sentries even you don't have update weapons?
I'm kinda stumped on this :v:
Valve read part 2 of Junkie's Engie Table and came up with this idea.
I blame the golden wrench, it was irradiated with australium, I'm sure.
Neither the engineer or Radigan could avoid it, they suffered it and now are going to become more and more power-thirsty, in a technologic way.

We have never seen what's under his glove - think of that as not a reason but a convenient circumstance. The idea of a robotic arm obviously didn't come once Tf2 was released. Valve doesn't plan that ahead.
Also Valve often takes the point of view of new players. Many would be/are at least disturbed by the thought of Engie cutting his own hand. And since we don't really know what's under the glove, the Gunslinger was accepted, since one can assume the robotic arm was there all along. Not all players read the comic and pay attention to the backstory.

Because its a game, i can have fun without story
It looks creepy, but it's AWESOME.
Because its a game, i can have fun without story
That's what I'm getting at. Many players don't follow the story at all, so the glove part was a convenient excuse to provide an un-written explanation: It was there all along. Nobody is going to think that he cut off his arm recently. Therefore less mental scarring.
I personally love it. I like watching him punch dispensers to upgrade them, and the mini-Sentries are like baby Sentries, and if you don't think they're cute then you hate babies. Plus, it's damn useful for a battle Engie; extra health, every third blow is a crit.
It's been said many times before, the Glove doesn't fit the robotic hand.
with exception of the part connecting just under the sleeve(which is probably easily taken off), yes it does
Sad. It looks bloddy awesome!

Only issue with this is in the Engineer Video you see him specifically working on his Robotic Hand, I don't think it's likely he had it under his glove the entire time because of that, maybe he just had a prosthetic hand under the glove.
I look at it like this. He saw the badass glove. He knew, there was no easy way to do this... so he bit his tounge, grabbed medic's bonesaw...
AND DID IT LIKE A FUCKING MAN.
Now, he has a robot hand. He wears a glove one when not using it, to keep it sparkly clean!
And yeah, the gunslinger is better than pudding.
I don't really like the gunslinger, it's a bit of a nerf. Yet if you come up against an engi with one they are more than likely to kill you.
The Gunslinger is good ONLY if you know how to use it. I'm still working out the kinks with it but I'm getting pretty good with it..on a server earlier I went 30kills to 9 deaths or so.(I had to leave after this..so I didn't have much testing time.)
It's a good weapon if in the right hands.
Now you guys complaining about dismemberment all the engineer is doing is fixing the things that made him weak. GLOVES.
