It looks like some sort of RAM-seeking cannon.
Oh man I want to know how to set my game to have low poly weapons 100% of the time :v:
That would look so funny
Thank god!
It was mindbeating to just sit and wait for a response from a slowtyper, not knowing if he was typing or just lagged out.
I expect it to fail about as much as the steam chat does. All someone has to do is leave a space in the chat window, and even if they then close the chat window, on your end it will forever say "... Is typing". So you sit there and sit there and sit there and eventually after boredom sets in you go "What the hell are you typing, an essay", and they just go "What are you on about?", and then it sinks in that they were never typing but rather steam was just being a piece of shit.
It needs to detect length of time between keystrokes to determine someone's actual status as to whether they're typing or not. I fully expect lots of rage from random shits about how "waah wah my trading chatbox always says they're typinggggg!".

That video's pretty shit actually. All he's done is turned off texture filtering and combined it with crappy textures... And it STILL runs like shit. Hell, his weapon models aren't even the low poly replacements either.
This is a better example of what the game would be like if you were to use what could best be described as 'low-LOD-ish' models;

Yeah but atleast it's better than nothing.

One future improvement I could imagine is "x has stopped typing" in addition to "x is typing"
One future improvement I could imagine is "x has stopped typing" in addition to "x is typing"
That would work, but what I would do to further improve upon that is go one further. When they stop typing for, say, 2 seconds, have the text change to "x is Idle", after 5 seconds or so, change that to "x has stopped typing". That way you've got relatively instant feedback on whether they're just taking a cupcake pause or have actually stopped altogether.
Maybe that sounds a bit odd when typed here but if you imagine how it would work during a trade scenario, it would do wonders I think. During a trade, I've noticed people are always in a 'come on come on come ON' frame of mind...
is everyone skipping over the new (well remade) map from the beta?
- Added a new Valve map CP_5Gorge
Anyone know if there has been any major changes to the map from the beta?

don't you half the poly count from the model viewer, so it's really 5381?
Optimizing this page.
Optimisation?
:woop: Oh my god it's the 2th christmas :woop:
Maybe.... now i can go to Full Res. 1440x900 here i come! :buddy:
Guys, do you play TF2 on pocket calculators? The optimisation was ok for me all the time, maybe that's because I started playing in the age of hats...

Maybe because you're playing Team Fortress 2 Braille Edition.

Same here.
It stays stuck on the "launching team fortress 2" thingy when I try to launch it
Hmm. While updating FrankenHUD for the new update, I found something interesting.
In the HudLayout file (which defines HUD elements and tells the game where to place them), there was a definition under "HudBowCharge" (which, understandably, is the charge meter for the Huntsman) called "HudFlameRocketCharge".
Any ideas?
New pyro weapon, perhaps?
That scrapped charged airblast?
flaming rockets

reflected rockets and grenades will set enemies on fire rather than minicrit
seems a good idea

edit:
:weed: 420th post :weed:
I still can't play :smith:
well it is now playable for me on my old laptop, awesome.
A HUGE performance boost for me. The framerate issue was putting me off from playing for a long time.
-snip
I uninstalled and reinstalled steam and now steam just fucking crashes every time I move to my games tab so I can't install tf2 again or anything, oh, maybe steam will help, oh right, I sent them a support ticket 6 hours ago and got no comment.
Edit: Now it says it has errors with syncing with steam cloud when it's on 2% or so and when I press okay anyway it doesn't install....and still no response from steam support.
Screw it, I give up.
now i might get 70 fps instead of 50
