MAJOR TF2 update for 10/29/14 (10/30/14 UTC, 6th Annual Scream Fortress Update) - Games

2 hours into the update: -"meh" reskin of a map no one liked or wanted with so much shit slapped on it the fps drop is cringeworthy, without ever trying to fix the issues the original one had. -meh selection of cosmetics (if not completely random) with absolutely no added support as seen last year. a lot of good content was left out in favor of more floating pets no one cares about. -if helltower lacked a proper boss this one lacks it completely. -Merasmus is so tacked on he's completely irrelevant to the map's context. -exact same spells from last year, not even tried to add anything to them. -minisentries can still ruin any attempt at the platform almost effortless. on top of that, rare spells can be easily spameabable to ruin the capping process even more. +The bumper cars are the only plus this year has to offer and they can be extremely fun in a group of 20 or less people. anything more populated than that and it ends way too fast (racing/soccer) or it never ends (falling platforms). +flooding the map with piss is fun (except if you end the round while its active). veredict: unless the tf team has more to offer under their sleeves, this year's update is as doomed to be forgoten as the original doomsday.

Well I played a few rounds and enjoyed it. I thought it was better than last year's.

everyone's view of the map will depend entirely if you enjoyed high/helltower's gameplay last year. if you did not, then this map will surely "feel better" simply because its not helltower. however, its a terrible thing that this version of doomsday still carries the flaws of the previous one and on top of it it adds even more issues, such as that spells play an insignificant role on the gameplay and the main gimmick of this version of doomsday (the hammer) doesnt really add anything at all. it doesnt help either that doomsday its an EXTREMELY SMALL map that can easily turn into a massive sniper/minisentry fest, so any server with 20 or more players becomes cramped with too many people.

It's alright. Didn't keep me entertained longer than an hour or so but it was good while it lasted.

I actually loved helltower, it's just that this year's is better.

So the new effects are coming out of the crates you buy from the store?

As much as I'd like to enjoy this update, the B@T server crashes every time we win the game :(

So..I've gotten three achievements so far, but only one gift cauldron. Is that all I get is the one? Not to sound ungrateful, but that's ass

Is there any other way to get the items? I really want the Templar Medic and Dog Medic sets but all I got were a bunch of allclass floating pets I'm never going to use.

Maybe you can craft them too? If so, I'd assume that you can get non-haunted ones for cheap in a day or two max. Planting stickies before the wheel of fortune and getting kills with it during the melee only event counts towards the achievement. :v:
