Is it just me, or does this recent Christmas update not feel.... christmasy..

To be fair, I don't think how many of you realize how not everyone celebrates Christmas. And with media today, if we don't include everyone then clearly you're racist.
But the "Holiday" update would've been fine.
For starters,a few things that could've been done
- Snow maps? Really?
A Festive map, like Harvest or Mann_Manor. C'mon guys.
- Stuff like health pack presents, that would work.
- Give everyone a Santa hat, or soemthing with an achievement tied to it
Killing Floor's christmas update at least feels christmassy.
1 more point for why Killing Floor is becoming my new favorite game.
Valve is taking money in the time of giving.
good job robin.

Alright, this always bugs me when someone brings valve being greedy.
like it or not, Valve is a business. They have been consisntently bringing free content to the table for 3 years.
I honestly think they can make money now. And they still give free patches. This was still free.
Shit, but still free.
The title is misleading, I voted "yeah" in response to, "Is it just me, or does this update not feel... Christmasy". :argh:

No snow maps probably because it's Australian Christmas, Aussies have Christmas during the Summer. So yeah, wouldn't make any sense I guess.
but snow is related to christmas
Not Australian Christmas.
Apparently the Southern hemisphere is a difficult concept to understand for some people.
Apparently the Southern hemisphere is a difficult concept to understand for some people.
Oh yeah, cause we're all to racist to understand.
I live in argertina and there isn't snow here :v:
the snow as something to do with the christmass I think
I live in the southern hemisphere,it's summer and my balls are melting :v:
I'm so racist
Well i think its obvious that Valve did not make an real Christmas becaus it is religion related. I think that Valve only wanted to do an Holiday/winter time update. Making an religious related update would bring hate from other religion to Valve.
Its like if Valve did an Hanukkah update, Everybody would have start complaining.
But thats is only my opinion!
It's offensive to non-Christians!

I wasn't referring to you either.

If you think that I was serious when I said are you racist, you need a lesson in sarcasm.
This is so weird, why has Valve turned into this, didn't they care less about money a few years ago?
Here, let me explain.
Christmas is on December 25th.
In Australia, where Australian Christmas is allegedly celebrated in TF2, it is summer, as Australia is in the Southern hemisphere.
Therefore, there is no snow in Australia in this time of the year!
There are already candy canes and Christmas tree hats and lights dropping, so how is it not "Christmas-y"?
Conspiracy time.
Does anyone else think there may be another Christmas Update coming next week? Let's look at the clues...
1) There will be an update on December 24th. More specifically, the Mann Co Store will be receiving an update featuring some of the newly implemented weapons such as the Jag. Why would they ship an update on Christmas Eve when most people are at home with their families?
2) The lack of Christmas hats in the update. For the people who closely follow the modding scene on places like Polycount and Facepunch, you know that there was a plethora of Christmas hats contributed to Valve. From santa hats to elf hats to mistletoe hats and so on. Only three holiday-related hats were added yesterday: a tree, Max's Severed Horn and the Christmas lights. There wasn't much Christmas content for an update called "Australian Christmas". Either they are saving some hats for next year's update or maybe there's more to come.
3) The "Old Nick" model. Take a look at the update page. That's a pretty good drawing, right? You might think so. However, that's not how Valve does their art. They first create a 3D model, pose it and then draw over it in an image-editing program to make it look hand-painted. Notice how similar the style of the new art is compared to the Horseless Headless Horsemann or this Soldier art from 2009. Both were made using the method I described.
Now why would Valve waste such an amazingly detailed model on a single update page? Maybe.. just maybe.. Old Nick will be introduced as a new boss next week on Christmas Eve.
Then what about the kid though? That model is detailed but I can't see it ever being used ingame.
Of course it is christmas. There is alot of people wanting the new things, and people want to dish out large sums of money to get them.
To celebrate baby Jesus.
well there is a christmas tree hat in the game files
well there is a christmas tree hat in the game files
no shit
What's Christmas-y about making people pay to get certain items?

I would rather have no updates than free updates that are killing my favorite game for me.
If you hate it so much rent a server and mod it to make it vanilla, goddamn.
What's Christmas-y about making people pay to get certain items?
Because every other company does it! /badjoke

:frog:
Stop acting so hostile all the time
Tabarnaco, you should calm down, it's just a discussion dude.
I don't find it christmasy, mainly because christmasy is not a word. But also because it's just the unreleased gamemode, polycount set, with some extras thrown in. That said, I like that valve has finally released some goddamn weapons for the goddamn weaponless goddamn classes.
[sp]Goddamn it.[/sp]

But wait!
Since there are about 90 hats in the game, divide that by 30, the number of dollars required to buy gabe's average lunch, and you get 3.
1 is the number of headless horsemann on the map cp_manor at one time
You can get 20 by subtracting 40 (approx number of times valve has used other's work) from 60 (the number of people who buy every item in the MCS).
Convert those to letters and you get...
CAAAAAAAAAAT!
(Don't bother me if the numbers aren't right, I just had to make that reference)

:tinfoil:
When people get Christmas presents, they usually get stuff that they like rather than things that are Christmas-themed. That's at least the way I'm looking at it.
But I agree, it's not really Christmasy. Although, SPUF already had a couple of idiots bitching that they were offended by "Festive Winter Crates," so it might be in their best interest to downplay the whole Christmas part anyway.
