Basic way of getting a medal for a bargain. This requires mostly patience and some dedication. 1. Go onto tf2items.com 2. Go to the soldier medal lists 3. Add people who is online or who has been online for the past 2 days 4. The tricky bit: Wait untill they accept your friend request, tell them that you want to trade their medal and you offer a lot of hats (4-5 maybe) 5. Rush them a bit, if they have the game installed make sure to get them to do the trade before they find out the value of the medal on spuf. 6. Don't lie, tell them that no more vintage hats can be required. 7. Valid arguments: Think out valid arguments for all the questions they might ask, most general is below. 7.1: Why do you want the medal it is only use able on one class and you can barely even see it! 7.2: Why should I trade it? I earned it. 7.3: I can add all those hats with a plugin, why would I want them? 7.4: Mine is rare! If you can get me something that is equally rare I can trade it. Suggestion answers 7.1: I know but it's an item that I don't have in my collection yet. 7.2 tricky one: I wasn't around at that time but I won't take it for free, you can have a part of my hat collection. 7.3: Yes but that only works on your own server, besides you can't add vintage hats with a plugin. 7.4 also tricky: Offer either one pair of bills or one pair of buds, tell them that they are probably less of these than medals but since it is so new to the game there isn't any on inactive accounts. Additional tips: Don't go in to this empty handed, you will have to trade them some items but you can get them for less than they would usually cost you. Don't be rude, be pollite and tell the people you talk to about the new updates and vintage and stuff like that. Since the only way to get the medal was through a hidden page in the blog assume they know more about TF2 than you might think and don't take them for idiots. 3-4 stage is the longest and you should do this on a weekend or when you have a lot of time to be by the computer. Happy medal hunting I did try this and I added about 200 people before I got one who accepted AND responded back to me, if you really want one dont give up.

The easy way? When the page came out, grab a medal, like I did.

The Soldier Medal is proof that 90% of the community only cares about rarity of items and not how they actually look. I don't see the craze. You barely even notice it. If I ended up with one I'd trade it away first thing.

Even though you did buy the earbuds for less you have some of the hardest to trade hats in the game.

I traded my v. beret for an ushanka, mining light, and a few random weapons. I decided to craft the mining light with my napper's, it made a billycock. So I saw someone offering a handyman's handle for 1 refined, so I bought it and proceed to try my luck one more time with the two. I ended with a procedure mask. :mmmsmug:
