I wouldn't call this a scam trade per say..
But I started out this week trading my Earbuds and a Rimmed Raincatcher.
Now I have Earbuds, Bill's Hat, Familiar Fez, Bloke's Bucket hat and a second Vintage Procedure mask, all without touching my other hats.
Feels like I did okay for a weeks trading.
How i counter-scammed a scam:
I was playing on a public server of mine, when a random player joins!
He starts offering people black ops for a Hustler Hallmark! I wasn't too sure if it was a scam or not but i was being suspicious. I decided to trade with him.
He told me to give the hat, then he will give the game, i straight away cancelled. By now i thought it was an obvious scam. He added me and persuaded me for about 2 hours while i was playing HL2 Ep1.
I decided to mess around with him a little, I told him i needed to gain some trust from him, so i told him; Why not we make a proper trade where you give me one of your hats so i can hold onto it while you have my one of my refined metal!
He agreed and we both pressed ready, I went to have dinner so i could see how much i would piss him off. Well it pissed him off alright! He started swearing at me and telling me to hurry up! Now i straight away knew it was a scam. We traded he took my refined metal, i got his Vintage Procedure Mask.
I then told him to give me the game, he disagreed, now he wanted more from me! I said "give me the game and ill return the procedure mask and give the Hallmark!" He removed me and blocked me straight away!
So the story ends with him losing a procedure mask and me gaining one! :dance:

I just traded a (non vintage) Tyrolean and a Stuntsman for a Snaggletooth.. I'm pretty sure that's a fair trade, or at least I'm happy with it. I had a spare Stuntsman, and I have a Pickelhaube (which I'm using now instead of the Tyrolean of course) and the Snaggle is one of my favorite hats in the game.
Value wise I think we were about even. I usually see Snaggles going for 2-3 good vintages, and I gave it for a good non-vintage and a less valuable poly hat.
Though I learned a good lesson about trading from it: Have a discussion with the person you're trading with. He first offered a painted Tossle Cap for it and I said I wasn't really interested. He linked to his backpack and I saw he had a decent amount of hats, so I asked if he would offer something else.
He says he has an extra Snaggle but I'd have to "up the ante" (as he called it) for that. Told him I'd throw in either a Stuntmsan or a Mullet for it.
Anyway I'm happy with the trade. :D

Oh, and I just turned my Pickelhaube into a Guadalajara+Baker Boy. Guadalajara is probably my favorite Pyro hat and Baker Boy is my second favorite Scout Hat (next to the Milkman, which I can't see myself getting for a long time lol). I'm pretty happy about that trade.

I'm not sure if this is a scam, but a guy came in a server I was playing on asking for a fez.
I said yeah, and didn't trade right away, I told him "in a round, I'm still alive".
So I die, and immediatly the trade pops up. I put my fez in (non-v) and he puts in a sombrero. Now I'm sick, so I went into a coughing fit and went to get a bit of water. I return, and see a painted yellow backbiters billycock, and him with the trade box checked. I checked the chat and he said, "alright I'll throw this in too". None of the things we traded were vintage. I got two hats.
He's a nice guy, and I feel kinda bad for it.
