I used to join certain idle servers because they were also good mess around servers. I'm actually sad to see some of them go.
My favorite, super low ping idle servers disappeared overnight. Pity....
Why do you censor your name when it says "Hi Inspector Jones" on the steam idle manager and you can just look at Steam Tools:
The part he censored is his steam LOGIN. The "Hi Inspector Jones" is his Steam community name, which is already public.
I dont see why you still cant idle for hats. Can anyone be specific how to get hats now?
i was literraly addicted to idling, im glad for the update
Just my comments about the latest item drop change: The original purpose for idling was to acquire hats without having to play the game for hours and hours on end. Now that Valve has supposedly fixed this fatal flaw, idlers should be rejoicing! Now, one does not have to "play" the game for an inordinate amount of time to acquire a hat! But, instead, idlers are whining about having to play the game. See what happened? People got addicted to idling. They no longer understand the reason behind idling, besides just to acquire items. If one doesn't want to play TF2, why would one want to get in-game accessories for their characters? Addiction hurts. :eng101:
The original purpose for idling was clocking more time in-game than you already are, acquiring more drops and a higher chance of hat drops. Idlers aren't whining about having to play the game. They already do. You have no idea what you're talking about.
I idle for weapons... Then the ones I don't use I put toward crafting a hat. Win-win situation for me.

I used up all my time, When does it reset?
I used up all my time, When does it reset?
Seems to be daily, unsure what time since Valve time is backwards
? I thought it was weekly?
? I thought it was weekly?
It seems to be both x items per day y items per week
I used it up, As i have had no items for 12 hours
I used it up, As i have had no items for 12 hours
It seems it's 24h since last drop..... it seems.... I should find out within a few hours.
The new system isn't even up
The new system isn't even up
Boxes, piles and piles of boxes.
I seriously don't understand. Does anyone have solid proof that it's up? I didn't notice any difference in the drop behaviour, I still have about 20% chance to get an item every ~25 minutes, the drop times never change and I still go 3 hours without any items sometimes.

Then start again the next day. I think it might, just might be up. [editline].[/editline] Also Beef, as it's pretty much confirmed there is a daily cap, and weekly cap, what's going on with Source Tools, are you going to make some sort of timer, to exit the program after x hours, or something similar? And, what was the evidence of the clean account versus the idling account?
Wow this thread is sad

And, what was the evidence of the clean account versus the idling account?
When/if a whole week's data shows that the weekly allowance of drop hours is reasonably high, I will make ST work around it, I'd like to figure out how the daily cap works and how the weekly cap works to work a scheduler around it. Clean account has barely run 40 hours, it needs a lot more time ;)
Yeh, a hell of a lot of research need to be done still. I just don't wanna stop using Source Tools, I love it too much.
Steam > TF2 Properties > Launch parameters
-textmode -novid -nosound -nopreload +connect IP:PORT
An idlers heaven. EDIT: Shit, massive bump, my bad.
That would be more useful if Source Tools didn't exist. Still rated informative.
Steam > TF2 Properties > Launch parameters An idlers heaven. EDIT: Shit, massive bump, my bad.
that's some heavy necrobumping you did there.
that's some heavy necrobumping you did there.
Great Scott! It's from the past!
I think TF2 would be better without idling now since the drop change. there's like an 8 item limit and you can get it playing 1-2 hours a day 3-4 days a week.
The only reason I idle is to get enough items so that I may get an Engineer hat. It is my lifelong dream to obtain a Texas Ten Gallon, although the Engineer Cap would be nice too. :allears: As soon as I receive enough items or even receive the hat from a random drop, all idling will become pointless, as I don't need every hat for every class to be content. I have my Ushanka, which I love very much, and now all I need is my Engineer hat and all of my ambitions will be fulfilled. :buddy:
I think TF2 would be better without idling now since the drop change. there's like an 8 item limit and you can get it playing 1-2 hours a day 3-4 days a week.
Untrue, a person found a total of 13 items on the server I was playing on.
The cap stacks for up to 4 weeks, meaning if you didnt play for 4 weeks you could find 32~ items on week 5
Basically they made it as to where the less you play you get more items, it should be the other way around. I like to play TF2 for more than just a round with 32/32 servers(36/36 sometimes) and they last for quite awhile sometimes. It's bullshit, really. I didn't idle before this stupid change, and I still get shit all for items.
