last year everyone's favorite won overall, and most of the winners were among the most praised entries by the community.
Rivalry Rush is my favorite. Hilarious with lots of action, I'm so glad it won something.

Thanks to everyone who voted. Though it bothers me how Mann Swap ended in action rather than comedy. The outcome would've probably been different then.
It's amazing seeing back when Animation VS. Animator came out, people overly praised it and even nominated it for Best Comedy (Read the Media thread), and now when it won a Saxxy, it's suddenly not funny and apparently it "didn't feature anything particularly remarkable other than a joke that is as old as deviantart itself.". Plus, didn't a really similar event happen to the Wishmaker?
It feels like this year's Saxxies were rushed. To be honest, I didn't think Animation VS. Animator was that amazing, especially in comparison to the previous years' overall winners. I'm wondering how they chose the winners this year, to me it doesn't feel as if they put as much thought into it as they did last year.

To be fair, if you submitted it for action too you can't blame valve for choosing the category that wasn't your expectation. I do feel it deserved a saxxy though!

It's because people thought it was cute in its own category- it went on to take a role that was more deserving to something else, which most people think rivalry rush or another saxxy deserved overall.
As a member of the Defuse on the Fly team, a TL;DR of what happened was the video uploaded before the deadline, but due to the fact that SFM is shit, it decided to throw an "upload failed" error at 100%, causing us to miss the deadline. We really should've given ourselves more time as we know that SFM is shit and should have expected it to have issues, but oh well.

Also the situation with the multiple categories is basically the videos that were in multiple categories were put into whatever section they had the most upvotes for.
They were comedy/action? Welp, despite the video being much more comedy than action, it was one of the top nominees that had action and therefore it fell into action and whatever was behind it in comedy fell into comedy.
Animation vs Animator - if it's based on original god knows how old Flash animation, then it features very VERY little "versus" factor unlike Flash one did.

The animator vs animation thing has its roots in an old and very good looney tunes short. It's not an original concept, but it was very well animated and was nice to watch. I think it deserves to win

Although there was many great videos this year, I'm disappointed all the ones I really wanted to win didn't, and everything felt rushed compared to last year.
