commie, here is a paintover (or rather an annotated series of suggestions)

the main thing is that I think you should focus more on the curvy, organic shapes that the AK has (I highlighted some from the ref)
As for scaling, so that it doesn't look too much like a simply blown up AK, I think some well placed normal sized rivets should do the trick and fit in.

I think it fits Sniper the most.
woolly hats don't really fit tf2 tbh, everything has such defined silhouettes that a fuzzy blob isn't going to work.
