I'm trying to make my horns paintable... No luck so far. Every color i use results in black. [img_thumb]http://i1026.photobucket.com/albums/y322/CptNuke/item_test0012-1.jpg[/img_thumb] Can someone explain how you go about making hats paintable?
alpha mask of your diffuse white means paintable, black means not
I think the staff would be pretty cool as a melee weapon if it worked like the Sandman, as in you shoot fireballs with alt fire.
I think the staff would be pretty cool as a melee weapon if it worked like the Sandman, as in you shoot fireballs with alt fire.
There's something going on here. Let's say it has an effect partially opposite to Equalizer. The more health you have, the more health you have, the faster the projectile is. The less health you got, the projectile dishes out more damage. So you can try and hurt yourself on the battlefield for the right balance between speed and damage. Also, this drains 50 ammo from your flamer, so you can only use it 4 times in a row. Making it a bit less spammable. UNLESS you keep resupplying on 2fort's lockers but 2fort is a spam map anyways.
Perhaps cool, but would cause some problems. If it was equip-able in the Melee slot and worked like a secondary, it would be overpowered. If it was equip-able in one slot and disabled the other slot, it would be a completely unique feature and would probably require extra coding from Valve. If it was equip-able in the secondary but could be used like a melee, it would be a really strange function for a secondary :S
Well, I meant it can be used as a secondary and used as a melee. If you equip it to one, you equip it to both. You can hit 2 and then shoot fireballs or hit 3 and merely smack with it. It was only an idea, but it may cause confusion as to which mode you're in etc. [editline]14th January 2011[/editline]
There's something going on here.
This thing's not that different from before since I'm thinking about what to do with the belt. I'm not sure if this is the best solution.
Okay, That's what we're talking about. Great Model and Textures Svdl. Hat's off to your skill.
Model is Sparkwire's
If it was equip-able in the Melee slot and worked like a secondary, it would be overpowered.
The sandman isn't overpowered, and it has special features that other melee weapons don't have.
alpha mask of your diffuse white means paintable, black means not
Cool, you mean the diffuse channel? I make a channel (like how i create an alpha channel) then name it Diffuse and paint it black and white?
Wouldn't a staff look cool though? I mean, this is a game based on stereptypes.. A mage with a staff that shot fireballs would be a clearly recognizable stereotype. I just really don't like the idea of a weapon that doesn't add a new model, and the idea of a black hole implementation thing sparkwire mentioned sounds both like a not very recognizable weapon concept (aside from plausibly Bioshock) and like something that would look very weird.
Yes, a staff does look cool and fits the mage sterotype. So does a magic tome. In the end, it comes down to personal preferece, and mine is for the tome. Plus, a mage with the tome in one hand reminds me of the old Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance hack n slash game I used to love as a kid, and Nostalgia beats all Logic.
Big burning fireball in Pyro hand that glows, burns and shines like your damned unusuals is completely stealth and unrecognizble even in darkest place in the world.
However it would look terribly boring and would make no sense as an "unlockable". [editline]14th January 2011[/editline] I'm more for the idea of a tome than nothing at all though I must admit.
Let;s make a compromise: Tome in left hand and Staff in right.
The sandman isn't overpowered, and it has special features that other melee weapons don't have.
Alright, it's an inbuilt feature for a melee weapon for a class that usually does not have that feature available. Pyro has no weapon like sandman that fires balls, so making a weapon expecting Valve to implement a specific feature that a class usually doesn't has is not a very good idea. It's like making a melee weapon explodes since they did the same thing with Demoman's caber.
Someone can help me to uvwmap some models please ? :3:
Let;s make a compromise: Tome in left hand and Staff in right.
I'm fine with that, but that's because it would mean there would be no hand left to throw the fire from and he would have to use the staff :v:
Someone can help me to uvwmap some models please ? :3:
I think there's some tutorials on Youtube. Making a simple uvmap is one thing, making it perfect is another. [editline]14th January 2011[/editline] Hey, Royzo's watching. Give us a hand here.
I'm more for the idea of a tome than nothing at all though I must admit.
As anyone would, I'm sure. The fireball by itself would be ridiculous. Looking at it from a practical standpoint, the staff would be better. It could fit the already existing Pyro melee animations, so much less work involved. Model the staff, fit it to the axe anims, make a fireball particle to fly out of its tip when it gets swung and hey presto! Also, the tome wouldn't really work with world view. Unless the tome is only visible in player view and world view just has the fireball in Pyro's hand. So, even though I prefer the tome, I think it'll have to be a staff for this.
I'm fine with that, but that's because it would mean there would be no hand left to throw the fire from and he would have to use the staff :v:
that's what I mean. >_>

I agree that they probably won't, but it's worth a shot imo.

Maybe if it were more of a Natasha black.

We couldnt play together anymore cause that really wasn't a popular genre apparently. ...We should have tried DnD, that probably would have kept the family together.
http://www.livestream.com/hummingbirdjames Streaming for about an hour, let's see who still cares about this damn cannon. EDIT: Stream's done now.
Streaming again. Yes, that was only a 40 minute break.

Actually, as cool as fireballs are I just realized a staff might work better as a primary. [quick picture]
Hey Sparkwire, you asked for a concept on gloves - I thought up some Jet Gloves. Personally, I don't really like them that much, I just whipped them up. You're free to use/build upon them tho.
^hell to the yes
Is there anything else I could do to make this better? (If you want to answer, hop in my livestream at http://www.livestream.com/hummingbirdjames within the next couple of hours to give your opinion. Also, shameless plug! :v:)

If I had to think up some joke stats, I'd make hits a bit slower, because shit's heavy and clunky. But when it crits the jet engine BLASTS OFF and you charge onward with your punch. It takes some time before the blastoff can be used again, so if the blastoff is recharging the next crit will just be a crit. (Also you would be able to plow through your enemies with the crits, so it's basically a weapon with low damage, but when it crits, shit hits the fan and it's good against crowd etc. etc.)

I'd love to see "BLAST OFF" instead of critical hit when this happens.
