Medium-Low, This single core is collecting spider webs.
All Max
All max ;)
All Max w/V-Sync + 8xAA - Runs at about 70FPS in a firefight. I love this rig.
Ultrahigh config :D
1600x900
Everything highest with 2x or 4x AA. I'm glad I picked up a 5770 with my new build.
I've got a GTX295 (latest drivers and all that jazz), but it still refuses to go above 40 fps on a bad day. :sigh:
Without AA and pretty reflections.
Balance between performance and quality, though lately I've really wanted more performance. Sadly for some reason my game always dips to around 30 FPS in areas with a lot of action no matter how low I set the settings at. I need a new CPU. :frown:
Try putting -high in launch settings

Something's definitely wrong with it. My 295 stays between 60 and 180 depending on server population.

I was thinking of smashing my GTX with a baseball bat and buying an ATI card instead.
1920x1080, Max AA, all that junk.
mat_picmip -10
mp_usehwmmodels 1
mp_usehwmvcds 1
cl_new_impact_effects 1
cl_burninggibs 1
mat_motion_blur_forward_enabled 1
mp_decals 4096
r_decals 4096
r_maxmodeldecal 4096
mat_software_aa_blur_one_pixel_lines 0.5
mat_software_aa_edge_threshold 1.4
mat_software_aa_quality 1
mat_software_aa_strength 1
mat_software_aa_strength_vgui 1
Never below 120 fps on full servers right in the middle of a firefight. :buddy:
Everything maxed out with mat_picmip -10

I have an oldie, an nvidia 8800 GTX and it never drops below 40fps at max settings and high resolution bar server lag.
Something is wrong with your state of the art card.
I just changed my AA settings from 0x to 16x and I got 160fps on Badwater Basin. What the actual fuck?

Your computer is haunted, Daimao.
It is the only explanation.
I'm on a laptop, and use max settings with HWM models. I usually get ~60 FPS, down to about 20 when things get really intense, due to my crappy processor (1.7 Ghz or something).

Why use hwm models? Ruins faceposing or something, right?
And puts more strain on your computer, unless I miss my guess.
Balance. I tend to lag when a lot is going on in my field of view. My weapons flashing when they're ready to dish out critical hits lags it up too...
Played TF2 on my uncle's computer one time, he has the sweetest rig ever. I'm a little jealous D;

What does this do?
Medium settings.
It looks good, but it could be nicer.

He's running a laptop too.

It puts TF2 at the highest priority as you play it. Before I would get 30-40 on high with no AA, now I get 40-60 (things look smooth during combat). Another problem could be netlag like choke, use net_graph 7 to see which servers give you bad choke (more than 10 is terrible)
I put rate 1000 in my autoexec and that helped removing most choke. One more thing, go to your processes and set Steam to low priority, that might help

That sounds great! Thanks! I'll be sure to try this out and let you know how it works out.
Man, first time in a while I'll be removing my 30 FPS cap (I do it so that the game looks smooth to me). Everything always seems so fast when I do that. :flashfact: (until I actually get into an area with players... :frown:)
He's running a laptop too.
This is exactly why I don't get it.

Handy, rated useful.
I keep it at the 1280x768, almost everything at high, but I leave AA at 2x, and filtering at trilinear. Pretty good for a midrange mobile card.
Everything maxed + config.
Oddly enough turning on multicore renendering helped me out too, if you have a dual-core then see if you get a boost
mat_dxlevel 81 with low-medium settings
I play on my laptop with a nvidia 8400m
Everything maxed, I stay around 120 FPS.
-sw -noborder -novid -dxlevel 95 -high
Splain...
I know what novid is, and high now...
sw? noborder? dxlevel 95?
Currently at medium settings but I am getting a new graphics card for christmas and I was able to test it out with everything maxed so in 9 days I will be playing at max settings.
