When I was newish (1st full year) to tf2 I had found an Industrial festivalizer around the time of christmas (before the update), and I sold it away. After I did that I thought that thats how you could get festive weapons and thats why the guy paid me a key for it.
Back in the day when I was f2p, When I saw my friend get the gibus I was mad at him because he bought something from the store without buying me anything. (I was new at the time and I had thought he bought the gibus off of the mann co store.)
I was afraid that I would lose my Gibus if I was getting dominated
Same here kinda, but instead I watched Kitty0706's 'Moments with Heavy' videos (and his other animations) for a long time until I finally decided to look it up and see what it was all about.
Then I found Valve, TF2, HL, Portal etc
Oh boy did my life change that day

christ does this bring me back
pretend that you don't know who any of these characters are or what game they're from and you're experiencing it like I did
Funny, I first saw TF2 back in 2007 in a game shop. 8 year old me thought that the game is about terrorist since I thought that 'I am big man with big gun, that means I am terrorist". (Can't blame me though, the star of the box art is the Heavy itself)
I saw the Heavy again when I was watching one of those "When X gets his/her Y videos". It was a Gmod video made on cs-office and the Heavy popped out behind a desk saying "sandofavich"
When I saw the Yeah Toast video, I got interested and found out it was free to play (2011)

Dude, you got a steal deal from that guy! 1 key for the Industrial Festivalizer? You would have been reported for scam if you try it today.
I find the first of those incredibly hard to believe unless you spent the first 198 hours idling.
Trust me when I say I was dedictated to playing Sniper and Medic more than any other class, so I never bothered to observe what was going on.
I pronounced deus-ex specs "DOOS-EX" instead of "dey-us-ex" for a few months after I learned about their existence.
Fucking feel that. Funny thing too that I wanted to trade for a Genuine pair for weeks and I always pronounced it like DOOS-EX, no one ever corrected me but they did ask if I was foreign or illiterate.
I always wondered what those icons on the scoreboard meant, and I was happy when I got the target icon on my name because I thought it was a good thing.
I used to think that holding the Sapper made you invisible as a Spy.
I used to think that item styles were permanent and unchangeable...so I traded my Villain's Veil because it wasn't Trained Killer. Ugh
Thought a custom model on a certain server was an in game cosmetic.. Ugh I still feel stupid for that even now..
I assumed that the razorback was invisible because otherwise it would be terrible (lo and behold), and also thought that if it broke ingame it was removed from your inventory and you had to buy a new one.
When I first started to trade, I thought that the value of items in trading was related to their mann co store prices and wondered why no one would trade their hats or keys for my cowmangler.
and thats how the phlog became a top seller for months
I crafted the War Pig #38.
I thought the #38 was part of the name for a while, and not just its craft number.
I thought yesterday's update would have at least 100 cosmetics and more than 6 achievements
me in chat: selling a couple of crates for a key
this was eons ago however
I was afraid that I would lose my Gibus if I was getting dominated
I actually never knew that, because I never wore the Gibus to find out, and I was too lazy to look it up. lol
me in chat: selling a couple of crates for a key

I once sold a guy 8 crates for 7 keys.
Then I used 6 of the 7 on 2 new update hats.
I thought buying weapons from the store was a good idea.
I didn't know you could rotate engie buildings for probably at least 100 hours.
When I started, I always wondered why all the engineers are trying to destroy their own buildings with a wrench. First, I thought it was a bug and they want to get the metal back because it gives you more metal than you used for building. Later, I found out that they were just upgrading their sentries.
[editline]31st October 2014[/editline]
I even got annoyed when friendly engineers tryed to "destroy" my sentry gun with their wrenches.
I once used a ton of keys to get the attendant hat from a crate. Then I found out I could sell the keys for a hat. One hat per key....
I ended up crafting the attendant, and I still have it to this day.

The razorback should give some sort of attribute like faster unscope on your primary. The issue is that it does a fine job making a spy have to replan how they'll kill you, but it's also super easy to pull out a revolver and glock the sniper 3 times(1-2 if you're using ambassador) before he's any the wiser. It needs something to allow the sniper to react in time to this (granted it might need an additional downside to prevent it from being OP)
I remember when I dominated that gibus wearing spy who thought the spy was a melee class that ran right into battle.
I felt like hot shit, as I threw it on all my classes, and strutted around 2fort like hot shit.
Then I got dominated. And kinda lost interest in the game for a few years. But damn it, those 3 minutes were great.

Actually i don't think that this affect someway sentries, made multiple tests because a friend was like..."Huuuh the sentry looking forward at the enemy, kills faster!" and no, the sentry just kills
I'm surprised no-one mentioned gravetalk yet.
Also I've always thought it was "suprised" until now

technecially it does since it doesnt have to wait to turn towards them
i thought that barrel-no-jutsu was official
i thought that to get the achievement for using another scouts ball, you had to actually hit the ball
i used to ask heavies to drop their sandviches because i wanted one
i dont miss 2009

Gotta admit.
That'd be pretty fuckin awesome though.
The first tf2 video I watched consisted of a guy spamming the sandman ball, I thought it was a baseball game for a freaking year before I started looking up what it actually is.
sold 3 earbuds for 2 keys
:suicide:
