I thought you could get promo items such as the Ellis Cap and the Frying pan back after you deleted them and/or reinstalled the promo'd game. I also thought you could regain the gibus by dominating a gibus player again. Boy, was I wrong.
Plugin already exists, at least for the weapon system. I found an example plugin there : https://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?p=2009450 , though I have seen better plugins doing this "pick up weapons of the killed enemies thingy" notably with an SDK Hook touch function. (and tell me, how would you equip cosmetics to players,mm...?)
Nobody read my post fully and I'm sad now. I used Weapon Steal as an example. My idea was for a "Cosmetic Steal". Believe me, I knew about Weapon Steal. As for how I'd do a cosmetic equip, while I don't condone Master Xykon's releases, I did download them for posterity. I have them all on standby. Also, I know a fellow who is running a Custom Weapons 2 server complete with custom weapon models that other players can see thanks to Master Xykon's Equipment Manager fix. So far, Valve hasn't taken any negative action towards the server.
4 years ago, i thought that the crates was something special and rare, and traded a hat that dropped for a one. (I don't really remember if crates was costing like an actual hat but yeah... Still was weird.) I was a big noob back then, and i can get my hat back for a very cheap price, but yeah. Memory stays. ᴬᶫˢᵒ ᶦ ᵗʰᵒᵘᵍʰᵗ ᵗʰᵃᵗ ᵃᶫᶫ ᵗʰᵉ ᵛᶦᵈᵉᵒˢ ⁽ᴳᵐᵒᵈ ᵒᶰᵉˢ⁾ ʷᵃˢ ᵐᵃᵈᵉ ʳᶦᵍʰᵗ ᶦᶰ ᵗʰᵉ ᵀᶠ²⋅⋅⋅ ᴰᵃᵐᶰ ᶦ ʷᵃˢ ˢᵗᵘᵖᶦᵈ⋅
I still see the Fan O' War as a guitar or a guitar case. I thought the name was just an obscure reference to a band I never heard of or something. Even after I learned it was a Japanese fan I still couldn't get over that it wasn't a guitar.
BOY I JUST DID A GREAT ONE. I sold a Unusual Steaming Big Country for $3 when I meant to type $30. I'm mulling over the prospect of just uninstalling Steam and never speaking of it again
When I started playing I didn't know about crits. I thought crit stickybombs were actually dud bombs that would do no damage once I detonate them. During setup if I shot a crit sticky I'd deliberately detonate them to make sure I had 8 normal ones ready for the start of the round. Same with other classes, if I started shooting random crits as Heavy I'd stop shooting to make sure not to waste ammo.

Not a bad thing at all, but, well... Sorry. Also, saw your 3$ unusual, Zombi. I would have bought it if i hadn't the market restriction due to my recent funds adds. And i would have even given it back to you when i read your post, too late unfortunately. Edit: wait, nvm you rated me dumb.
When I first saw TF2 I was dissapointed as a QWTF and TFC player that they turned an awesome shooter into a cartoony thing. Now I have a poopload of hours. I also thought that the eyelander carried over heads from life to life over the course of the game and the head counter was just cosmetic. I was a dingus.
Interesting how many people are instantly put off by the graphics. I know intelligent, reasonable people with generally good taste in games (also classics) who seriously only played TF2 once for a few moments and quit right there because it was "cartoony" or "childish" and couldn't be told otherwise. AAA devs are spoiling the gamers methinks. That and the likes of Farmville are giving cartoony aesthetics a horrible name.

IIRC some users have bots to detect outlier prices and instantly pick them up netting them the occasional 75 cent aussie scatter, or in this case, the 3$ unusual.
You've just given me an idea for a potential SourceMod plugin similar to this Item Stealing plugin where you "steal" a weapon from the player you killed which can lead to things like a Scout with a Minigun. Only, this would be the ability to walk onto a dropped hat from the player you killed, and it would be equipped on you. Not sure if that's at all possible (because I don't know if SDK Hooks allows for the touching of dropped hat props) but I could always do a basic "check victim's equipped cosmetics, then equip them on the attacker upon the victim's death" system.
Reading this, had the idea that if you kill someone - you automatically 'stack' their current hat on top of your currently equipped one. Players with more kills have taller stacks of hats and thus, easier to spot (much like that picture with all the hats stacked on each other). Kinda reminds me of those plugins which make your character model's head bigger the more kills you get (Killing Floor has one).
I always thought Grordbort was spelt Gordbort
Back in 2009 I believed those videos that said shit like "delete 3 random items from your backpack then kill yourself with stickies as a demo for a free hat!!" and I did that like 5 times. Then I realized those videos were fake :(

Cartoony Too much like Borderlands Rockets don't kill in one hit not realistic not realistic not realistic However, what I didn't know is he posted his review of the game, not only slandering the game, but the players, mechanics, and everything about it because it wasn't BF3, under my SPUF account. Long story short I don't allow him on my computer anymore.
I didn’t know about custom maps when I first started playing. But I did play the tutorial for around a week before daring to connect to a server. One of the first maps I played was ctf_haarp. I was absolutely, utterly confused as to the game mode and I left very scared that people would think I was a noob. But I went back to the tutorial and there was only Dustbowl. So all I played was Dustbowl. Later I expanded to 2fort, and I saw people had Vintage weapons. I asked how to get them and (thankfully) someone told me they’re “weapons we got before achievements”. So as I got more and more weapon drops, I decided to go get achievements so I could get cool purple weapons. Well then I found achievement servers, and of course I farmed the shit out of them… I got all the class milestones very quickly and I was sitting on a pile of achievement weapons and mediocre drops. I got very upset, mainly because I didn’t understand the weapons (yes, I read their statistics, but I didn’t know why you would use the Axtinguisher when you had a flamethrower!) so I crafted em into metal and I got my first hat. I still have it.
I used to think that if you ubered, if you switched away it would stop the uber until you brung your medigun out. Oh, how many ubers I've killed because of this.

When I was new I thought Scout was only good with he's bat. Which resulted in me rushing towards the enemy team mutiples times in Dustbowl with my bat equipped and dying mutiple times to sentries and uber heavies.
I used the fan o' war in medieval mode because I thought that it was a badass bat with its "Marked for death" attribute. I thought it meant that whoever was maked would be killed instantly or after a specific time limit.
Come to think of it, is "marked for death" ever actually explained in-game?
Come to think of it, is "marked for death" ever actually explained in-game?
The weapon makes your cells produce excessive amounts of urea. Your blood essentially turns into jarate.
Come to think of it, is "marked for death" ever actually explained in-game?
I'm pretty sure jarate kills the victims will to live
At first I thought the 0.8 second longer priming of the Scottish Resistance took place after having pressed right click...
Come to think of it, is "marked for death" ever actually explained in-game?
Serious answer: yes it is, the Fan o' War's description says "On Hit: One target at a time is marked for death, causing all damage taken to be mini-crits"
At first I thought the 0.8 second longer priming of the Scottish Resistance took place after having pressed right click...
Wait, how does it work then? Is there a delay after having fired a sticky that prevents you from letting it explode before 0.8 seconds have passed?
Wait, how does it work then? Is there a delay after having fired a sticky that prevents you from letting it explode before 0.8 seconds have passed?
That's exactly how it works, The SR stickies require some time to activate and you can't really airburst spam them like with the default launcher.
I thought certain cosmetics would protect you better than cloth items [like regular hats or coats], so a helmet would keep some of your face from being damaged from headshots, demomans bomb jacket protecting from explosives, and so on Turns out I was sort of right, those protective sets used to exist
Oh, I remember another one... Because of Meet the Engineer I believed it was possible to build multiple Sentry Guns. When I found out it wasn't the case, I was very disappointed. (I'm sure I'm not the only one...) But a few days later I came across a Mini-Sentry and told myself: "There must be a way..."
