So guys i know VALVe has issues with us copying concepts from theim like with the hazmat headwrap V1 but with about other content they made like say.....the scout track jacket in the VALVe store?

Mods are stuff you can see on your end of game, but others can't unless they have the same mods. Mods can range from sounds, to player models, to hats/miscs. And all you have to do is download the vpks and put them in the custom folder.
Custom Folder path:
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\custom

yes, everything made here is also put in the steam workshop and will one day get in tf2 so its like your "per-ordering" the item

So I'm trying to sort paintability on my hat, but it's not working; or right at least.

Without any paint, it shows like this (I've not added a base colour for the paintable parts yet). That's fine and all, like it should. But then when I apply paint, it paints everything [i]but[/i] that part (except a tiny bit, but I think I need to remove the paintable parts from the original layer).

Seems like you should invert your alpha.

Thanks, that worked (why didn't I think of that). The only trouble now is the paint colours are [i]really[/i] washed out (except on some of the lighter ones)

(The colours with their actual colour to the right [cream spirit, after eight, lime]).
I've changed the blend tint colour over base since that picture as well (to the maximum 1.000), but it still insists on being pretty washed out.

Well, I suppose your alpha still needs some improvement. Try to make paintable parts 100% white on alpha.
And don't use this blend tint color over base if you want to keep your AO on paintable parts, set it back to "0".
Alright, i've done some finishing touches on the [URL="http://puu.sh/5wYxO.png"]spy camera[/URL] and I've got it under the tri limit. Now comes the hard part in my opinion. I have absolutely zero experience in any of the skinning process. I've had a go at unwrapping it, but I am stumped as to how I would fit all of the knobs etc into 512x512.
If someone would be kind enough to unwrap it for me I would very much appreciate it.
Anyone want to improve,texture, and upload this as I am limited in programs.
