possible Neo Teufort Series 2 item
I think if it was made a little more simple it could probably go under the radar.
Like on level with the nanobalaclava.
Isn't one of the things the valve artists insist on using as a reference is any tech or weapons in TF2 should ideally look like it was built with the kinda big hands the mercenaries have.
I think really it's the minor details in this that make it look too complex/un-TF2 like
It looks like the dude from the box of Killzone wearing a dusty Megaman helmet.
well I don't see how things like this fit

yet here we are
part of making these items is experimenting, to see what we can and can't do, and without that then we won't get much done at all
like I said, this is only a possible item, I'll probably end up doing revisions making it look older
Once again, someone employs the fallacy of Valve's mistakes to justify their own.
I also quite like the irony of someone who ran a community event based around creating TF2 items based on the 2007 era tone and themes now creating items that deviate very far from those ideals.
So now here you are, being a part of the problem. I feel very strongly that as a community with all of our influence that we can have in this game's history, items like these are what we should be revolting against. I also don't believe that we have exhausted all of our options for cosmetics that would suit the game's 2007 theme either, but few people seem willing to explore those unexplored nooks nowadays.
I'm surprised it took 6 days for the emporium to kick its first hornet's nest of the year.

Your smoothing is bad (few if any hard edges) and those holes should be modeled in. Also, yes, your colors -- and the texture in general -- are not great, quite messy and cloudy.
I read in the comments you said normals are hard to get exact. This is blatantly untrue. If you're painting your normals it's super easy as you just run it through a filter and if you're baking them you just have to cross-reference the normal map to paint the spots. However, once again, do not use normals for that, model those holes. You shouldn't have a normal map on that item period, nothing on it warrants it. If, for some reason, you absolutely insist on keeping the holes textured, at least give them solid edges, not blurred as it looks really bad that way.
Massive thanks to game zombie for compiling the v_models

Do whatever you want, Hawf. Why would you care what anyone in here thinks? It's your life, live it.

Positive surprise since it took that long?

no one can or is trying to make him stop, just letting him know that they don't like the idea. If he doesn't care w/e that's fine too.
does the workshop usually break like this? how soon does it usually get fixed?
does the workshop usually break like this? how soon does it usually get fixed?
It has never been this bad. The biggest problem I've had with the workshop before this was that occasionally the list wouldn't load when you click next page.
And the fact that the "Added to Game" category is in a completely random and constantly changing order, though its been like that forever.
well i've already wasted my FP post on my item, thanks a fucking lot workshop

So I'm about to make an item that involves facial flexes but I have NO idea how to make those work, so if someone could link me to a good tutorial that they found helpful, that'd be great. Cheers.

Are you using Blender? This is what i followed

However, half of it is redundant. You don't need vtaapply, since the blender SMD tools comes with the ability to import .vta files.
You also don't have to get the vta files yourself, if you have joes 2013 models pack that should come with everything you need.
Basicially, load the .vta onto the player model, then go make like 45 shape keys on your model, rename the keys to their respective flex and then edit it to move to the right position
then import dmx
-snip late-

i can't help you, but that seems like it's made out of plush. give it harder edges and stuff to look like metal.
also that stray cord kind of makes me wonder how the weapon will function

thicken the prong wires? they look too thin for tf2 considering your wire is thicker

I kinda like the cord. Makes me think he plugs it into a wall jack in order to charge it.
My lovely texture progress. Let me know what you think.

the whole concept makes no sense whatsoever. you do need to give your contraptions some grade of functionality or at least you need them to make sense in some way.
right now that thing looks like a bunch of stuff glued together with most of them not really serving any purpose besides the tesla coil.
Are the Steam servers acting up? I keep disconnecting and so do some of my friends.
