thanks for the suggestions, I am biging to work on the model more but for now it is what it is there will be changes though, and about the normals, i meant that i need to get the painted holes to get it right with the normal map as well as the same place as the main texture. but i will model the holes though. again, thanks for the suggestions.
I know nothing about normal maps but haven't they got something to do with the UV? I'm sure there's a really easy way to match the normal map and diffuse involving UVs.
SergerantJoe and Mile Pyrower you two never cease to amaze me, its funny how all this time tf2 has been out I've never seen an actual attempt like this! Please tell me we'll be seeing a mod release once its done.
Miles did all the actual work, I just shuffled vertices around and splattered weight paints all over it. In any case, as soon as I fix an issue with the viewmodel it's definitely getting a release.
Anyone know where you can find early shots for the Dishonoured Crossbow Pistol from the Debut Trailer? My first, and really bad concept up for grabs(I don't have photoshop) [t]http://i.imgur.com/9uymkRR.png[/t]
I tried to make a Concept for a 50s Car Style Rocket Launcher, but after i relaised that my "drawing" skill is not good enough to make a front drawing, i gave up. [t]http://i.imgur.com/9K9X8oa.png[/t] Maybe someone with more Talent want to try it

-snip i feel stupid now-
My first, and really bad concept up for grabs(I don't have photoshop) [t]http://i.imgur.com/glzufYx.png[/t]
The concept is not bad. It's just a little bland.
The concept is not bad. It's just a little bland.
It was supposed to be inspired by this: [t]http://media.liveauctiongroup.net/i/13481/13752438_1.jpg?v=8CF480D73141540[/t] (minus the more obvious signs of course) Too bad about my drawing skills though, maybe someone who is more talented may want to try redrawing it. I imagined it going great along with the Team Captain.

Can I ask why noone here thinks there should be a Robotic Booga-two? I don't see why not, considering last year was really fun, even for me.
Can I ask why noone here thinks there should be a Robotic Booga-two? I don't see why not, considering last year was really fun, even for me.
1. People think the robot hats were ugly. Maybe I'm just weird, but I liked them a lot, some even much more than the original ones. 2. The update brought nothing but hats. That was to be expected, but yet, it was a huge disappointment, mostly due to insane crate hype. The crates dropped for like 3 weeks before they could even be opened, and everybody thought it was a sign of something incredibly epic that will save TF2, get everybody to uncrate them for epic loot and solve global financial crisis. The comic was nice, update page was nice, artworks were nice... But the update itself was just hats. No new content. Hence everybody remembers Robotic Boogaloo as a very forgettable update and nobody feels motivated to get through it again. Especially since there's already another community update in the works, a much more exciting one..
Can I ask why noone here thinks there should be a Robotic Booga-two? I don't see why not, considering last year was really fun, even for me.
because we don't need/want 100+ more robot hats that people will only want a select few of
You'll also never get the same kind of motivation. People did it back then because it was new and fun.
I meant to release this last Emporium. Better late than never I suppose.
You'll also never get the same kind of motivation. People did it back then because it was new and fun.
Boogaloo wasn't that long ago... What about newer item makers, will they ever get another chance to be part of such a big thing? (i was gutted that i couldn't make stuff back then) Also, i actually kind of liked the update cause i was a guaranteed hat each time, and a cool one. Then again if you don't like hats then it would've been different, so maybe valve want to make up for it with EOTL
Here. Not the retextured version, mind you.
Noooo, why did you reduced the texture size D: I don't think i have the psd anymore...

Hardly anyone participating knew it was gonna happen. There will be other community projects (there's a weapons one going on right now) and if you're not satiated by all means start one up yourself. just don't do robots again cause it's boring

If it were up to Valve, instead of coming up with new weapons they'd make Eviction Notice throw nuclear fireballs or something.
More like McVee. If it were up to Valve, instead of coming up with new weapons they'd make Eviction Notice throw nuclear fireballs or something.
I don't think McVee gets a say in weapons. If any weapons are added they will probably be Valve's doing. Maybe he can pick the models but it will probably be from Valve's catalogue of playtested and approved stats.
I hope you dont think that the uv grid for a texture and normal map of the same item differ from each other.
Nothing
Nothing
it's nothing specific to normal maps, it's just having a basic understanding of what UVs are
I don't think McVee gets a say in weapons. If any weapons are added they will probably be Valve's doing. Maybe he can pick the models but it will probably be from Valve's catalogue of playtested and approved stats.
I don't trust Valve and their playtesting department during this period, currently they seem to work on a hit/miss basis where some ideas work and some don't, but there is no logic behind any of them. There was absolutely zero brainpower put into that Christmas balance patch. There's no other rational explanation. If you told me they took somebody smart aboard, who has done their research, and is at least half-interested in balance, I could sleep well. Valve seems not to have a good idea of what they are doing with those weapons at this point.
true they fucked up recently but I still trust them more than animators who probably don't have balancing / playtesting experience
Oh, McVee doesn't have only animators on his team, he's also working with some FPers to organise the update, make the update page, pick the right items and stuff. I don't have a good idea just who he has on his team, but it's definitely not only animators.
