Hey what happened to the Spy Fortress mod that the guy was working on?
Looks fantastic and all, but uh
The fuck kind of animal does orange leather come from
you can tint leather, afaik.
Oh god keep talking about this i suck at texturing
Don't give up! I'm sure you can get the hang of it with practice.

I usually pick 2-3 colors inside the doughnut if the base color that I'm texturing is at the center. Paint parts where you think touch-up paint would go with a square brush. Keep each variant on a different layer, and adjust brightness/contrast and hue/saturation individually as needed.
Imagine you have your weapon in real life. You see a scratch in the paint, and reach for a can of paint, but realize you're out of that color. You then head to the hardware store with said weapon and have the paint dude behind the counter mix you up a new batch of paint. You apply touch up paint to various parts of the item that had scratches, and while the paint appears to be the same color wet, it dries with a slight color variation.
Texturing in TF2 is almost like telling a story with an item. Imagine the class holding it and how it would be treated over years of time, imagine where it would be scratched/worn, then paint over those scratches with ever-so-slightly different color paint. I think texturing is one of the more challenging parts to making an item, but if you're able to give an item character, boy is it worth it.
Is there a thread that has to do with just character mods n' such other than just hats and weapons?
Is there a thread that has to do with just character mods n' such other than just hats and weapons?
The Mod Emporium is for all mods
Hats, Weapons, Miscs, Sound replacements, and every once in a while maybe a map or a script or something
The main reason there aren't many player mods on here is because player models are fairly difficult to work with, from what I've seen, and simple texture edits usually either don't look good or aren't deemed necessary
Not to say that there aren't any at all, just agreeably not nearly as many as fixes, sound mods, and cosmetics.

Tempted to make this to get free money from all the calladooty kids
EDIT:
I wanna be clear, I'm NOT making fun of the design! I like it, the calladooty comment was the first thing that sprang to mind. Sounded really douchey on retrospect
EDIT2: "COWL of Duty". Har har I need to stop

Name it this.

Very shitty and simple concept

It's supposed to be based of Team Fortress Classic's pyro. My drawing skills are pretty bad, can someone with better drawing skills redo this?
Are there publicly available uncompressed versions of the T.I.P. textures?
Trying to update some older models with the enhanced textures but repairing the compression damage every time is really annoying.
Can you try and guess what it is?

Flare gun?
Flare gun?
Other than that.
EDIT :
Here is a clearer version :

Isn't it obvious? It's the thing that neo did. We'll hopefully release it by tomorrow.
Is there a way to make an object "adapt" to a shape, so it takes its shape?
Like if you had a sphere and a block of plasticine, and you started pushing the plasticine into the sphere, making the plasticine a curve rather than a block.
I'm asking cause I'm trying to adapt a spy vest into a fem!spy model, but the breasts get in the way.

I've been wanting to try to texture for a while, will be my first time, so yeah, i'm up for it. It may turn out shitty, but i'll try my best

Yeah it is.

I never said it was leather :P
It's suposed to be some sort of cammo or something.
Alright, fuck texturing. Fuck texturing forever. I hate it. Anyone wanna do this in my stead?
Texturing really isn't hard, it just takes some practice (and a good brush kit)
By the looks of things the brush strokes in your texture are either across or upwards. If you have a graphics tablet, which if you don't i seriously reccomend you get, then you can enable your brush strokes to follow the direction you move your pen, like a real brush. Seriously, keep practicing because i've found texturing to be one of the more enjoyable and satisfying processe. (i still need to improve alot though).

Didn't work =(
Is there a way to do it manually?
How can i make an island straight while uv mapping?
Does the different baseball caps (Sarif, Mann Co., Ellis, etc) use the same model?
If so, could I just edit one of them, and apply them to the other ones?
I'm trying to make a hole in the back of the cap for a ponytail, but I don't want to do them for ever single one of caps.
my friend told me to make a turtle shell for the pyro
