I draw a Dress for Pyro: any suggestions to improve ?
Just so you know I've been working on a pyro dress recently and rigging the part between the legs is really annoying and the main reason why it hasn't been finished yet: When I get back around to it I'm going to extend it back to its original length just below the knee and try the same trick I used on the trenchcoat bottom to see if that rigs it more nicely.

If someone could help, im considering buying 3dcoat, but first id like to know if worth the money. What are the ups and downs? Is it better than Blender in terms of tf2 modelling?

I didn't find as much information out there specifically for the program involving TF2, so I didn't get very far with it. (It crashed a lot.) As soon as I switched to Blender, I made several items in a fraction of the time. Mostly due to the community experience and support with the application and a small part having some Autocad experience. I would recommend Zbrush, the quality of the tools seem a lot better. But hopefully someone with more sculpting experience would have a more educated recommendation.
pretty sure that program's focus is sculpting. plus it probably has no community support and you could never pop in here and ask questions and expect anyone to answer. so no.
Plus, with a tri rate for models like the importer has and the aversion of dense normals for the style, dedicated sculpting programs tend to be overkill. When normals are needed, they can be created other ways for free (i.e. built into Blender).
please don't do this, people
Please stop saying there is a curse on blender or that it sucks. You should model with whatever program you are most comfortable with. If you really are passionate about modelling and/or want to follow a carreer that includes 3d modelling, you can change programs with some effort and help. If you only intend to make TF2 items, blender is perfectly fine as TF2 items aren't very demanding. Alot of item makers use blender and got plenty of items in-game. Blender is just as good as any program, it only depends on wether you know how to use it or not. The only downsides I see in it is few modifiers and not being able to change normals' directions. Other than that, blender is perfectly fine to model, so please stop saying you can't go back once you learn it because its a lie.

I was not attacking using blender for other tf2 stuff, I am a blender user myself so I know well it's good.
I use blender myself. I was just saying that creating normals with blender is no good (awful, outdone by literally every program). I, for once use 3dsmax to edit normals. It's extremely easy and you barely need any knowledge to none to do so and if you can't get along very well, you can simply watch a 3 minute video on youtube and get the hang of it rather quickly. (Sorry if I seemed offensive, I'm not trying to be, just trying to explain facts just so that people don't run away from blender)

Since we're on the topic, what is the best way to handle vertex normals for Blender users, aside from giving the mesh to a 3Dmax or Maya user? Trials of those programs? A different program altogether?

Wasn't someone working on a vertex normal plugin for blender, too? I recall hearing about it. Atm the best you can do is getting a trial of one of those programs, I guess.
