From far away you won't be able to tell that it's not the mask since the base color is too close to the actual mask color.
Thats why you paint it silly garish colors so that everyone can see your hat

That's not a bad thing you know... What ever happened to subtlety? Not every hat needs to have bright bits and trims that stick out.
It's exactly fitting for the Spy as well, the wrapped tanugui is well known for being a terrible paper-thin disguise, so I think it's extra ironic that it doesn't even come close to concealing his identity, let alone being super noticable as an item.
Plus, I actually made it not absolute vomit to look at when painted.
