yeah i tried that, but then the white pixels turn into dark red/brown pixels and still doesnt blend with the camo spots.
Try anti-aliasing/smudging them over? That's what I'd do. If you can't get rid of them make them blend in.

im using blendtintbybasealpha.
im sure someone else had this same problem but i cant remember if they fixed it.
Could be either the masking method or the camo patterns are too pixelated.
If you aren't already using this paint method, try this:
"$blendtintbybasealpha" "1"
"$blendtintcoloroverbase" "1"
Otherwise, try making those camo patterns with vectorial shapes so its not as pixelized.

Staples are a bit thin, seem like they'd look odd when scout flexes, and clip the strap. Do you have a concept you're working off of?
Gentleman, I'm looking for some good replacements for Medigun and Kritzkrieg. Any suggestions?
Okay. In the past day there has been quite a few concepts of medieval and futuristic sort and talk of another community update. So here's my full idea.
We have a mod competition with like some 5 themes like medieval, futuristic, noir, shogun, WW2, etc., where everyone can make sets revolving these themes. For example some people may not like the idea of doing medieval items, so they can choose from 4 or so other themes to fit their fancy. This would allow people to have more freedom in what they choose and what they want to do. As a result we would receive sets that could involve themed weapons and have a bunch of items revolving 5 or so different themes. To keep people interested this would be a competition with prizes, with things such as "Overall Winner", and "Winner" of each theme. This would result in people maybe making themed matching maps, possible SFM videos revolving the time period and of course there would be hats, miscs, and weapons which everyone can enjoy. This thing needs planning and all (most) community involvement and support, so this is up to you guys.
If this gets positive responses we would need to have a vote and suggestions of who would host it. I got this whole thing planned out and got a perfect picture of what this would look like but I know you guys wouldn't want me to host this. So I will get a list of people who would like to host, so and y'all can then vote for who you would want to host this thing in a simple FP comment rating. :words:
Rate if you like this idea and would be willing to help, or if not able to help be interested in seeing this thing unfold.
Rate if this is not the thing we need right now and isn't a good idea and you think we should do something else.

This part of the item of a set "Medieval Courier". Sure, I need a lot of work on it. Rig is my problem. I sitting on this over two days...

Around the world in 80 themes
I like it.
I sadly have to disagree with you dolphin as themes based off a time period would be few and making a competition with each 'category' would be somewhat weak. But I can see where you are coming from since no one wants to do something like a community update like the Medieval update or the Fancy vs Nasty Update. But if we were to do a Time Travel update, We could jokingly tie it to the Robotic Boogaloo with the time travel in that and such.
Idea
I really don't think this would work out that well. It'd work a whole lot better with one theme at a time.
Many people may favor one theme more than the others and we'll end up with much fewer people making items for one theme and loadsof people making stuff for another.
I think its best that we think of one theme or just not bother with this idea altogether.

Its for a Kamerad for a SFM movie.
The problem is that this model is using some bones which seems to be wrong in place.

These bones are for the mainwheel, a trigger and the tacho but as you can see, they arent there. They just collect in a wrong place. I have no idea why this is happening.

i'll try out the paint method, but i think it might also be the pixelated spots. but that confuses me since the bushmans boonie is using the same paint method as me, and has sorta pixely spots as well.
is there a way to vectorize my spots already made, without having to remake them? i never made vectors before.

I just had a really stupid wordplay idea that barely even works
basically, give these items to the Pyro as well, and make a comic where, even though the Pyro looks like a potato, people mistake him for Prince Scout here

Hmm maybe I got it wrong and its the other way around:

That's a good point I guess. Doing a single theme at a time would be an option. Like a theme every month or so.

thats already how my paint was set up. I think if i cant figure this out, i'll just have to make the goggles paintable :/
its probably just my pixels being super picky. i'll try my best to fix it.

so the end result would be 5~ items from 5~ themes respectively
You would just be wading out the best models from 5 themes, there wouldnt actually be a theme to the update other than a "theme theme"
I'd rather have an actual theme everyone can work with and end equally rather than making a competition out of it but partially because i wouldnt win
If we do something like what dolphin suggested, may I make the suggestion of only two conflicting themes. Like a fantasy vs sci-fi (medieval vs spy-tech) type of deal going on?
It seems like we're building up to something here, we're just not sure what we're going for right now.
I'd love another competition, they really make our contribuitors do some really good stuff.
does anyone know how to get rid of these white line borders on paintable stuff?
I'm fairly certain it's actually a limitation with how paint works in TF2. Even if your pixels and UV's are lined up perfectly, they'll have white pixels on borders. Expand them one pixel out, and you'll have overlapping paint. Whenever I run into this, I use separate UV islands for paintable and non-paintable areas, and that fixes the issue perfectly. However for your circumstance, that's not entirely reasonable since we're dealing with camo here.
If you describe in detail what you want your pants to look like unpainted by default and painted in a bright color (like pink or lime), I could help with importer variables, diffuse and alpha. Pictures would definitely be the best, even if they're just manually colored in or photoshopped. My main question is what color(s) you want the darkest part of the camo; Scout's default pants color, or a darker version of the applied paint.
Traditionally I've used the additive method to apply paint with a black diffuse. All my texturing (such as the bake) is in the alpha channel. The default color for paintable areas is actually nowhere in the diffuse; instead it is in $colortintbase (i dont remember the exact name, but it's the RGB value in the importer). The multiplicative method for paint only looks good on white diffuses; it looks terribad for colored items (see five-month shadow, which uses multiplicative paint on a brown diffuse).
(Also, no offense to E-Arkham in critiquing the five-month shadow, I believe most of us are aware the workshop item wasn't intended to be paintable but valve threw paintability in because they felt like it and valve did an abhorrent job in doing so)
