You haven't been here long, but people saying "Oh me and whoever did a hat just like that before." has become rather tired to see, so people aren't going to like it. Plus it wasn't a reference that was obvious, or even in good taste really. It's not that I, or other people here, can't take a joke, its that we didn't think it was funny.

People don't have to explain themselves every time they have a different opinion. I'm trying to explain why you shouldn't take stuff like this personally. But yeah, for next time, unless its super obvious, jokes about idea/content ownership don't go over too well.

If this is your 1st map I have some advice for you.
A), Don't theme a map around something where the assets don't really exist in TF2 (which they don't, the bulletcrops pack is the only European assets TF2 has really)
B) focus on making your map fun, getting the scale right and understanding what makes good maps in the same gamemode 'tick' aka dustbowl etc.
C)Make sure to test often. come over to TF2maps.net, post your map up for download once the first version is ready and post it to one of our Gamedays or jump into our Steamgroup's chatroom and ask around if other have maps to test and get an impromptu map testing going with one of our admins.

The download section is kind of a dumping ground, I suggest posting to the map workshop section if you want people to comment on and critique your works
