yep, you sure got us. go make that item, you stallion. it has a great chance of getting accepted. yep. go for it.
getting an item accepted isn't the most important thing man, chill out :/ let him make what he wants.
getting an item accepted isn't the most important thing man, chill out :/ let him make what he wants.
I never said it was, but he's currently arguing because he thinks it can be accepted. I'd rather him admit the chances are slim and drop it
shit, just leave him be shitting on him here now isn't going to stop him from making the item and from uploading it as a matter of fact it's not going to accomplish anything at all, so why even bother?
since when did link have such massive thighs?
That's his baggy pants, they just look like his skin-tone in that picture.
one might argue that they dont own the rights to police drones.
This subject has been brought so many times but its still good to bring it back from time to time to make the difference more clear. and for future references as well. The difference between "Reference" and "based of" is rather simple: when you draw references from a concept you pick certain elements in a desing and apply them on your own, either to improve your own concept or simply because you like that particular way that artist developed his/her aproach to the same concept. An example of this could be me studying the way Rain does his textures or how Square does his concepts and apply their techniques on my own item. the advantage of this is that you're still developing an unique concept and that you can take multiple references into your piece to get the best of all of them under your own judgement. Items like the toowoomba tunic take elements from the way a tunic has been portrayed in popular media(wich also include the Legend of Zelda series). When your concept is Based on something else you do work towards developing an item that will be a direct reference to the original source, so the audience will instantly make the connection between those. however, you should strongly consider that you still need to add your own elements into that desing because when you're working towards getting a monetary revenue off that product/desing you are most likely going to get shut down simply because someone else already created that concept and spent its own time towards that same goal(aka you're basically taking advantage of someone else's effort). For example, SEGA didn't invent red shoes with a white stripe on them but they do own the rights over the particular ones that Sonic wear -you could do a pair of red shoes with a white stripe over them for the scout as long as you can do a concept that isnt basically a red triangle. Its what happens with the Team Captain, The Magical Mercenary and the Deep Cover. In your case yes, The concept of "Police Drone" belongs to no one, and a quick search will reveal that are multiple desings based on the idea, [t]http://lparchive.org/City-of-Heroes/Update%2006/15-PPDDrone.jpg[/t][t]http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2011/196/a/8/auto_gunship_drone_by_marcnail-d3rq4nf.jpg[/t][t]http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2013/353/1/a/shadowrun_doberman_security_drone_by_raben_aas-d6yi2ku.png[/t][t]http://www.igorstshirts.com/blog/conceptships/2013/ben_mauro/ben_mauro_04.jpg[/t] but the line is drawn when you take one of these particular desings and simply replicate it as yours, specially (as i said) when you're trying to monetize out of it. [t]http://puu.sh/8jJgW.jpg[/t]
There's still a part where I'm not sure, and I dont think anyone else is entirely sure, if anyone still has a license on the police drones specifically. the game was shut down late 2012 and the entire development team was laid off. i dont know if the rights to certain in game content was accquired by NCSoft or if it's become fair game.
what is a police drone even doing in tf2 what is this item even for i dont even know if its a hat or a misc or what class
Only reason I brought it up is because I'm pretty sure those light cones are going to look visibly wrong if you don't make the insides You shouldn't have 1400 tris on that thing anyway so find some areas to cut down.
nice but not the one i meant. it was a head replacement
I made this thing a while ago, is that what you meant? (Not sure I'm content with how it came out either, urrg)
If you're making it a mod, go for it, but if you're thinking of uploading to the workshop, don't be surprised when it doesnt get added.
Hey, that's the one. Is it claimed? I might give it a shot if it isn't
Nope, go ahead.
If you're making it a mod, go for it, but if you're thinking of uploading to the workshop, don't be surprised when it doesnt get added.
my chances of getting any item in is already slim. I'm a new content creator, who creates fairly sub-par items, and as such my chances are incredibly low. so maybe I like having fun? what ever happened to fun.
The 3LB Trigger
...Now mod release it already. >:I

If you have no intention of getting it ingame, keep it on mod sites, unless it isnt copyright, then the workshop seems fair enough as long as it has a mod download
my chances of getting any item in is already slim. I'm a new content creator, who creates fairly sub-par items, and as such my chances are incredibly low. so maybe I like having fun? what ever happened to fun.
I'm just saying, its pretty much pointless if you're gonna upload it. I was a new workshopper when I got my first item in. I'm not trying to tell you not to do it, I would just keep it to the emporium.
my chances of getting any item in is already slim. I'm a new content creator, who creates fairly sub-par items, and as such my chances are incredibly low. so maybe I like having fun? what ever happened to fun.
You can have all the fun you want making it. But you don't upload something to the tf2 workshop unless you specifically own the IP or you know for absolute certain that it's in the public domain. Keep it as a mod. If you're unsure about it, then do your research, whoever owns the rights to the game owns all of it, including models/designs. If you can't find an owner, and you can't verify that it is public domain, then don't upload it. If you absolutely have to have it in the workshop, then alter the design so it's similar, yet different enough so that it isn't a such a blatant copy. Then you can legally call it your own
A friend and I thought of a mod that would add more melee swings in thirdperson, so they can be more accurate to the firstperson ones. There's one issue though, I need the idle pose of the melee so I can base the swings ontop of it and I have no idea to get those working without breaking.
thought you guys might like a lil' reference [editline]23rd April 2014[/editline] And yet no one is going to mention this? http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=144833219

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=144833219
we'll, we actually gave you quite a good chunk of feedback and what i think was a reasonable amount of reasons as to why you should either not expect nothing from getting it into the workshop and gold starred. namely: -copyright infrightment -unfitting -unnapealing still, the worst you can get is either be completely ignored and/or simply rejected, so go ahead, do as you want.
-snip- And yet no one is going to mention this? http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=144833219
Do not let another person's ignorance fuel your own.
