Well thank you alot! Yeah at first the mod was just going to be a simple higher definition texture replacement but now it will also serve as a hi-def texture That adds back in the pinup. Again It Valve chooses to add this to the game.
The way how I see it is everyone wins... Those who hated the design/ my artstyle/ boobs will not have it by default and those who did want it can after modding it will have the pinups better than what they would have been anyways!

i'm not saying all the criticism is wrong, i just feel like you shouldve all said this stuff before it amassed almost 5000 votes and a few days before the update. that way he wouldve at least had a lot more time to fix this stuff.

Okay... I'm 24... I spent 2 days each on the both of the Pinup girls... I have a few books on WW2 nose art (pinup art they placed on planes) and mimicked an art style that was period but wasn't common...

Honestly, all the issues with it could probably be fixed in less than a day, spare maybe the normal map since perhaps you would have to learn how to sculpt. Time isn't really an excuse to not try and fix it's problems, TF2 stuff is very simple to produce.

Yeah, you kinda didn't see any rigging problems because you never got any pictures of the said problems.
Only that Neo told you about those because I told him/her. And let me warn you right away that the rigging works perfectly fine for all the weapon positions aswell as respective taunts.
There have been far worse items with far worse rigging problems that have gotten in (not going to exemplify) and items that lie in the pictures. This is not the case.
Also, there's been items that have been added to the game that are much more artstyle unfitting than this jacket.

The spectrum of "style that fits" is a broad beast that I'm currently wrestling with myself. When are the brush strokes too severe, too little, the textures too normalized, etc... Especially with items in the store that hit some of the extreme ends and Valve having the final say if its cool enough (or money making enough).
So props to catching the eye with The Dogfighter and hopefully glean some of the knowledge through some of the more thorny morsels of critiques. In the end, the item appears to have been chosen. (Related question: Would any changes made now, make it to the item after its been modified to Valve's liking?)
(Unrelated question: What are the boundaries involved using items that are in the store with promos to show compatibility? Is it common etiquette to first acquire permission from the original author or is it considered free advertising?)

yeah thats true. this does seem like an odd predicament to be in, i know i wouldnt know what to do. if you change the normal and texture, and it looks way different from the pics, it'll end up being confusing to everyone but us when it gets ingame. everyone will say "why does it look so different now? where are the pinup girls? this isnt what i voted for". valve will probably still add it, so i guess its not that big of a deal.

Voice your opinion, sure, my favorite opinions are bad ones because they help me get better. But this cattiness is pointless. If you think someone should change their item message them and explain yourself in a nice way, calling out their dedication to their Grandfather isn't going to make people want to take your advice. maybe but it would have been surprising if the item was added and it was different from what was shown in the preview photos especially the 2 dedicated to the pin ups; liking them is a matter of personel taste and how obsessed with the "art style"
other than that perhaps a better looking normal map and void didnt like that he feels the dedication make it seem like an "obligatory" add
