be honest you guys, this certainly isnt gonna be the worst item in the game, far from it. plus, valve likes it and the voters like it. and in the end, isnt that all that really matters?
It's true. when i first heard of making items for this game, i didnt know anything, all i knew was that you got a sparkly item saying you made it and i was down. i come on here all the time and see alot of you helping eachother out with advice, feedback, links, and general community hospitality. but after being part of this for awhile ive noticed some people aren't part of that , some of them are in it for the cash and the feel of superiority, shutting down anybody who makes an attempt too try and have some genuine fun with some creativity that's a little off topic. the whole point of video games is too create realities of our own without being fucking shotdown by the real world. what Real damage does his item do too all of you by being on the workshop? it wasnt until he shared that it might get ingame (never a smart move) that everyone flipped their shit. im aware that there are rules and priorities too abide by when making tf2 stuff, but he was doing this for fun, for a game he loves. this is why alot of new people too the workshop are afraid of trying too make stuff by themselves, the "Big shots" always have too shut them down. such a shame that this had too all go down. sorry you had too go through this questionablyinsane, and im sorry that so many people have disrespected your genuine desire too create something in the name of a loved one.

Stop that. Too often does it happen that someone makes a valid point, then they get accused of just being in on it for the money, or that they're jealous. That's not always the case, y'know.
And it's to, not too.
The spectrum of "style that fits" is a broad beast that I'm currently wrestling with myself. When are the brush strokes too severe, too little, the textures too normalized, etc... Especially with items in the store that hit some of the extreme ends and Valve having the final say if its cool enough (or money making enough).
Comparing with the extremes of what's already in the game is a bad way of gauging whether something fits or not. Way too many times have I made an item or drawn a concept sketch that I felt kinda ambivalent about, reasoned that 'hey it's better than [in-game item], so it's probably ok', gone ahead and workshopped or posted it and then ended up loathing it two days later.
Then again, when it comes to what fits TF2 I'm a grumpy old coot who actually needs to have a spreadsheet document to keep track of all the in-game items I have replaced or intend to replace with reskin mods, so my opinion can probably be disregarded.
one things for sure, some of you guys can be just overall great people, but there are alot of you that are just full of rotten shit down too your core :zoid:
Yay! Someone is paying attention to me!

buddy, they make those accusations because a lot of people are like that, maybe your not, but sadly a lot of people are in this for the cash.
I just know some Valve employee is reading this while munching chips on while looking at his computer screen and laughing, saying " Hey Rob, look, those item creators are at it again, arguing like a bunch of babies!"
Can I just say to questionably:
I'm aware that what I said can be taken as offensive, but I in no way mean to insult your grandfather. He sounds like a great guy, and im sure he is, and I'd like to apologize if any offense was taken.
Also, I didnt mean to rate Punchy's dumbass "tl; dr" post as useful, my phone doesnt like facepunch.

Should I finish this or dump it? Since I forgot I even started work on it.

i'm pretty sure this has been done multiple times. feels more like halloween item, though.
the color on it still seems off for me, even the other textured one. that green never really shows up in tf2 naturally, from what i see anyways
I'll make a note of that, I definitely felt the base colors before were too saturated anyway. I just add generic base colors so I don't end up with questions like "What's that gray blob on that gray blob?" and the like.
Would you prefer my WIP shots be like this?

This was covered when it was posted back in November. The idea is hardly the most original, yes; but I've also yet to see it executed well. ( No offense to those whom that may concern )
[editline]Can't we all be civil?[/editline]
Also by finish it, I mean make it all class as well.

Try compiling the item and giving it a simple texture, like the regular Ao, and get screenies of it in HLMV with a grey light. That catches the details pretty well.

the whole idea is quite meh, and it revolves around a inner joke about a single video(pretty much like every single item based off any of the recent comics)
there isn't much to say about it, besides being a bird coming out of the character. i dont really see what else could you add to it to make it more appealing without either getting too far or droping the joke altogether.
Hence why I posted it :v:
Anways, people seem to want me to finish it; so I'll get round to it eventually. I'll see what else I can do to spruce it up as I go along.
you could try to rework it into a MVM badge replacement for the rottenburg one. that way, you can actually make it work as an actual item AND as a reference to the MtM video.

Got this lil hat rigged, and wanted to apply normals and texture by myslef but since we are ona hurry (don't need to submit this for this year, but would be nice) I just want to ask if someone wanted to texture it and maybe give it some normal mapping for fur and nice cloth looks.
I'm gonna keep trying myself though, but this will take time for me :D

just a thought, maybe add a chip in one of the eyes.
One question: How do you guys imitate the little noise the pyro's suit texture have for texturing an item suppose to merge with it?

I've seen you post this item a couple times (in progress shots and etc.) and, as far as I can tell from ratings, nobody seems to pay it much attention. I don't get it, because I think it's a really simple and nice idea that isn't even garish. You get my vote and favorite.

The hat part (not the tail) looks far too smooth for fur, at least in my opinion.
And the tail part also suffers of the same thing, but to a lesser degree.
But it's a good concept nonetheless.

It's actually pretty varied but with a reduced palette to keep it consistent with how Lieutenant Bites (and thus the accepted raccoon fur style for TF2) appears. Tid and I felt it would be too inconsistent to have it be more visually noisy.
