If the background is black and the Spy is white that's what you want. Like I said before use copy visible, hide the top layer, add a layer mask to the lower one, and paste the silhouette on it.
The Spy is black and the background is white.
And what layer mask should the lower one have?
Is there a tutorial or something? I'm not very good at editing images.

Also, why not have the cross, it's Christmas time.
"Christmas" "Christ"
Plus it completes that set.
Sniper needs a cross, too.
I know Constructor made one, but never put it on the Workshop or made it a mod. :/
Made a few changes. Same question:

Agree = Keep the pattern.
Disagree = Lose the pattern.
Funny = Change the tone/colour of the pattern.
Zing = Change the pattern's pattern

Dear god I hope this gets ingame, I would buy it so badly.
& I think you should keep the pattern. It suits him pretty well, imo (and would go pretty well with the Black Rose).

Tint of the coat and the interval of the pinstriping seems off too
Tint of the coat and the interval of the pinstriping seems off too
That's interesting, seeing as right now the main body of the coat literally uses the exact same texture as the default spy.
-EDIT-
Just been informed that the default texture is slightly stretched so the pinstripes are further apart.

I believe that'd be a proper alpha mask as well. Sorry if I'm just skipping over steps since I'm not the best at explaining shit and remember how everything should look.

I hope doing this was worth it, took me a good while.

Repost if anyone missed it.
why the cross?
Have you never heard of a Christian Scottish winter pimp before?
Have you never heard of a Christian Scottish winter pimp before?
nope ive heard of the christian scottish summer pimp; i guess i didnt recognize him because of the winter background
all honesty I was trying to figure out the set I mean I see a pimp hat, some winter boots and then there like a fancy shirt and a cross I cant seem to understand the overall “theme” behind the set and if there is one I guess im just blind to see
but to me right now it looks like someone took 3 demoman items that dont seem to blend and threw them together
Now THIS is how you make a GOOD item for tf2. When this is textured it's going to look fantastic. This is quality. I have no idea why Valve are adding sub-par items now a days. This is the kind of quality we should have as a standard (I know it's WIP)
If you're refering to the rig, the arms are based on one of my engie shirt items, so the quality is basicly the same.
Testing out paint and normal maps.

lol, there's more to my item and yours than just the arms? They're both very distinct from each other :P
besides, he never called your engie shirt low quality :/
[editline]13th December 2013[/editline]
Misread, you're talking about the rig
Although mine is improved with an extra vertex a little to not clip in any of Engie's main standing animations, there is some clipping in some taunts. It's mostly hidden by the red armbands.

Funny change that pattern's tone/colour.

You cant post that without having the spy wearing his deus specs

Let's keep the Smiss in Smissmas as well, I guess.
Blue texture for the shirtless version.

Well yes, why would I waste polys on such a small item?
Keep in mind that you're unlikely to see it closer than this, in game:

By all means, but I still don't think its necessary. At least not for in-game. Might be a good idea for the SFM video and renders, though. If you have the time, go for it.

What's the best way to edit vertex normals in Blender? I've googled it and it seems like it requires some kind of plugin. What's the best way to go about this?

The easiest way is to use something like 3ds.
I haven't been able to find any way to edit vertex normals.
Well, there was one thing to copy vertex normals, but it didn't work right.
why the cross?
Yeah, it makes it seem like a religious item I suggest changing it to a sticky bomb shape. Just my opinion though.
