What's the best way to import a model into SFM after making it in Blender and exporting the model as an SMD file? Is there a tutorial out there for such a problem?

I believe you can either render 2 images (hat only and player only) then merge them, or use a cudtom texture that makes the player gray

Looks like every little detail is modeled in, no normal maps or anything. Super detailed and smooth too. Does seem a bit unnecessary, they went a little overboard on it.
