Hey guys, I'm working on this medic bathrobe, and I'm trying to decide on which areas should be paintable. What do you guys think?
I'm also trying to decide on whether or not the belt should be dark or light.

I think dark belt with the belt being paintable looks the nicest.
With all paintable you could just paint it slate and confuse everyone.

My favorite for sure is the white belt, but as ToastedTea said, it would be confusing to have all that stuff painted slate, so I would go with all white and no paint or making the parts team colored and the belt paintable.

thoughts on the models?
If you need a texture artist for that i'm op :)

if you really wanted paint you could add some sort of design to the belt or trim so some of it's painted but not all of it
I don't think that making it entirely paintable will hurt it. Medic's gloves are the color identifier, not the coat trim. All paint all the way.

if i was a new player and i saw someone with a blue shirt and red gloves i would be very confused

Combat Wombat's got my back. You're right, it doesn't take away any pre existing team color, other than his tiny little tie.
I desaturated the paint a little bit and I think it looks nice.

You can't use blue paint on red team... right?

Slate is blue-ish.
Slate is blue-ish.
Yeah maybe a little. Is this confusing, though? I don't think so. Do you know which team this guy is on?

I just think it reads better as a bathrobe if its all the same color. With the other options it can start to look like a karate uniform.

Nah, if you handle the colors with shades like this I guess it'll be just fine with all paintable. [sp]including the chest hair[/sp]
Medic has a lot of team colors, its pretty easy to tell thats red team.

Think you've made the paint toooo pale... the majority of people who use paint, use it so that the colours on all their items match. So paints like this kinda suck, I think.

Normally, yeah, but it fits the item. It's a bathrobe/kimono after all. Brighter shades wouldn't work really well, IMO.

It would have been a lot easier if you put rating icons next to each proposition.

to test your theory, i request to see it in pink.

that's because most items arent subtle and come in a more saturated variety
bath robes are generally washed out because obviously water so if anything it makes more sense, and does well to not cover his body in new color
who cares? certainly not the majority of people who buy paints!

Water doesn't magically steal color from cloth lol I have bath towels more saturated than that thing

not to sound rude, i have a bathrobe that about 8-ish years old and its pretty desaturated from what it was. but its still brighter than that. the colors should be tweaked more.

this is possibly the best example on why using a different paint shade is bad

Is it bad though? I feel like if that skull was painted with full saturation it would look like plastic and not bone.

The only time I've really seen it done right is on the Fast Learner, and that's only because it has styles...

it's annoying when you're trying to maintain the same shade throughout 3 items
it's also annoying how nearly 10 different paint cans look exactly the same
