I've been using pistol lately but somehow it never felt right for me since there is no shell ejection and animation on it, I tried to search for a fix but apparently there's only for SFM. Someone WAS working on it, but he fell off the face of the Earth. Why do awesome people promise awesome things and then suddenly disappear? I hope the Engineer has some company on that moon base of his since he too fell off the face of the Earth.
This one is a long time coming for me but I finally finished! Working on a mod release shortly. I've been working on this for a long time now and I thought I'd show all my earlier versions and work that went in it. I wanted to make a rivet gun based weapon for the Engineer for a while, and after looking up rivet guns online I thought I had a decent idea for it. Version one was a shotgun replacement. I got as far as roughing in textures before abandoning it. Over-all shape felt boring and off. [t]http://i.imgur.com/IMtg8uy.jpg[/t] After a while I thought I'd try again, this time as a pistol replacement. I got more reference of electric drills and air tools and did some sketching. [t]http://i.imgur.com/Ory1HRK.jpg[/t] I kept a few elements I liked from the first version, like the air tank hanging off the back, and took this one to a full model before abandoning it as well. The whole thing felt too bulky in his hands, and I was never able to get a shape for the back of the gun that I was happy with. [t]http://i.imgur.com/PiFYDof.jpg[/t] I let the idea sit for a while again before deciding to tinker with it again. This time it hit me that the round nose of the gun, a part I really liked the shape of, resembled the engineers glove. From there I had the idea to make it an arm replacement, a weapon slot I think is criminally under-represented in TF2. I mean you can replace his whole arm! The possibilities! So again I grabbed reference and inspiration images and started sketching. You can mostly the progress of the design from the top left early to the lower right details. The center of the gun turned out to be the hardest part to figure out. At first I wanted to make it more like a nail gun, with some sort of latch, but that never worked out right. Eventually I stumbled on a picture of a jackhammer and really liked the springs on the bottom of them. That worked easily into the final design and done! You can see various features and elements in the references that made it into the final gun. I'm still new to the whole modeling thing and i need to practice, has anyone got any ideas sitting around i could use so i can improve? Most of my ideas are similar to already made items or on the verge of copyright.

As to using another sword, that was the most pirate-ish I could find. The eyelander has a similar texture and is a 2 hand-grip so I honestly don't know what else I'd use. Also, why is it that, even when I make (what I think is) a decent item, you somehow try to bring it down in some way?

Seems to match nothing else on the suit, like if Spy had a new designer tux with a polka-dot patch sewed on the back. It's fantastic otherwise, very good job.
