• Pyro's Napalm grenades...why can't he use them?

If they work anything like they do in TFC they might not be too bad. If they work like they do in QWTF, they'd be horrible.
It would be horribley unbalanced. think a Nooby Demoman with fire.
rip crazy legs
I'd think they're more of a distraction and would ease a Pyro to hack away with his Axtinguisher. It does no base damage, only gives a long but weak afterburn and has a small radius. So what? It won't kill you, but the Pyro charging at you with an axtinguisher will crit your ass. Think of it as mild support or another puffsting combo, except this one can be avoided more easily. It wouldn't have a huge DPS either so it wouldn't go well as a spam weapon. So, like, something like this: pyro grenade etc. No explosion damage +50% longer afterburn -50% afterburn damage 7 meter range Pretty simple.
I'm pretty sure that just by looking at EVERY iteration of the Team Fortress franchise (even spinoffs like Fortress Forever and Gang Garrison), it's evident that the Pyro class is fairly gimped without a ranged weapon of any sort. In QTF, TFC and FF, the Incendiary Cannon, shotgun, and grenades (in descending order of their use) saw/see more use than the Flamethrower. The addition of the airblast to TF2 gave the Flamethrower some more practical use than attacking people who are very close, but the shotgun/flaregun would probably still see much more use in comparison if not for the alt-fire airblast. Likely the main reason that the Pyro has not gotten a secondary item to be thrown is because of how important that secondary slot is in a decent Pyro's arsenal. The way that I see it, a throwable item would only shine in close-corridors (where the Pyro already stands a fairly good chance with just the Flamethrowers) and be near useless in the open. Just my sentiments on the matter.
Valve removed grenades but not the grenade models from the pre existing models. Probably because the pyro would look weird without them. that's why models have nades attached to them but cannot use them
I miss the demoman with the TNT
They're simply aesthetic.
I miss the demoman with the TNT
I still don't get why they removed TnT. It fits the demoman since he is the 'grenade spam guy' I'd trade in my sticky launcher for a really high damage grenade.

I say grenades and people think I mean "Hurr he throws them as fast as Demoman can shoot them and they all have nuclear damage and AOE and instakill everyone" Speaking of updates, I think theres going to be a HUGE official update sometime down the road, and its going to focus on Medic and Pyro, maybe in a Medic Vs Pyro contest, introduce the Flare detonator for Pyro, and Medic's Quick-Fix, and release Meet the Medic and Meet the Pyro at the same update. I know, I'm optimistic as hell, but that would be an awesome update.
The problem with damage grenades is valve knew it would prompt people to not directly engage the enemy but simply attack around a corner and run away. which is gay Jarate and Milk do not cause damage directly and still force you or someone else to actually fight the milked / pissed enemies. My idea for a pyro nade is a jar of gasoline that makes all flame attacks much deadlier / longer lasting. That or something to make flames more disorienting, Like a bag of weed :420:
I've also mentioned a jar of gasoline TWICE. I swear, I mention the "G" word and people don't read anything after that.
It only takes away from the gameplay if you're an elitist prick
I meant is as a design that is completely unrelated to gameplay and that has widely changed how the community interracts with eachother, and therefor it has affected the core gameplay. You can't say that people joining idle servers, people standing still in spawn trading, and people loudly talking over the chat about what hats they want to trade, has no affect on the gameplay.
valve learned from the tfc, no more grenades. You know what, no more weapons, we have enough goddamn it, its a pain in the ass to keep switching between them when you want to do something "special". Its just annoying and its turning into, "is your weapon set the perfect set for this specific situation?" they should add custom class sets, that way i can switch from eyelander demo to sticky demo, and fez spy to regular spy quicker.
he cant use them because he's got those thick as fuck gloves on how the fuck is he supposed to pull the pin on a grenade with that shit on
i don't think the grenades are the way to go, but support for pyro in terms of long range would be appreciated. Oh yeah, i hope valve STOPS giving items to demo, scout and solly. GIVE SOME LOVE TO THE OTHERS DAMMIT

GIVE SOME LOVE TO THE OTHERS DAMMIT
Yeah, I want Heavy to get a Minigun that deals like 50% less damage but allows him to run his normal speed while firing. Maybe not a Minigun, but an exxageratedly large M60 with an ammo belt. Then again it sounds a lot like a regular machine gun, and thats something they said they didn't want, though. But I think thats reasonable. And I want him to get an actual secondary weapon instead of food. Before they add new food they need to focus on making the chocolate bar not suck, too.
I just thought that a pyro taunt when he uses his granades for something useful (equalizer/kritzcrieg taunt) would be awesome.
Anybody ever play on the MAD clan server? Their server has a Nade mod that allows you to use the nades. The Soldier's nade is different, though, from the ones he has on him: It's a spinning disk that shoots nails at nearby enemies.
You're a bit late. Why didn't you asked that right from start?

It also appears in FF. It explodes when it's done firing nails in all directions, the nails and the explosion deal damage. :eng101:
there are quite a few servers with the tfc grenade mod if you want to test them out rate me late

We have: Scout vs heavy Soldier vs Demoman Spy vs Sniper but no Engi since he has no enemies. He's just a buddy to everyone, really. Last one available would be Medic vs Pyro since they're both psychopaths, both usually get assists (afterburn and healing a Heavy) and neither are actual room cleaners, they help others to clean the room. I imagine Pyro hates Medic and wants to kill him while Medic despises Pyro and laughs at him which enrages Pyro even more. Like, Pyro underdog vs narcisstic Medic hiding behind his team. Geddit? And no, not taking sides. I hate Pyro, just trying to reflect a possible rivalry on what i know about their personalities.
rip crazy legs
We thought you'd be jiggly for ever.
but no Engi since he has no enemies.
Spy saps his shit, Demo and Soldier are the two most effective combat classes against Engineer emplacements, Medic provides ANY class with the ability to effectively combat his sentries. Engineer has plenty of enemies, just that most of them are tied up with other rivalries.

Apparently the community does not see the over poweredness of the Pyro as I do. However, wouldnt that olbigate Valve to make the Soldier use HIS grenades? Its just doesn't work out in the long run
Napalm grenades would make Pyros really annoying, IMO. And the Pyro is already balanced as-is (again, IMO).
You know they could just work like Half-Life 2 grenades right?
You know they could just work like Half-Life 2 grenades right?
'Cept you don't have a Gravity Gun to throw them back. :colbert:
