Ow the edge. [sp]Why does scout always have to be the fucking hero.[/sp]
seems more like a villian to me
Ow the edge. [sp]Why does scout always have to be the fucking hero.[/sp]
His body type is perfect for fast and agile movements. There is just alot more variety to what you can do with him without making it look unbelievable or awkward. If you animated heavy flawlessly wallrunning, nobody would really take your animation seriously. I don't really think that's what the animator here intended despite some jokes being thrown in there. It's really just a lack of a better alternative, so Scout is always the one to go to for the 'cool parkour style action hero'. Parkour action stuff is fun to animate anyways so that's why you see Scout kicking ass alot. I don't understand why some people are trying to make a thing to hate Scout killing everyone. It's really hard to single-handedly wipe a whole team in TF2 as Scout anyways, so making an animation of it is a nice escape from reality. Somewhat pointless rant over.

why did he change shoes half way through?

Row row fig da powa.

I mean more like if you were to make a serious animation that actually followed the laws of physics (which is what that animation is trying to do). Scout is obviously going to be lighter than Heavy so you would animate them as such. Even if they did fly, and you animated Heavy and Scout taking off side-by-side, you would probably animate Heavy taking off alot slower than Scout just to give that sense of weight difference. If you don't do this then it would probably be harder to take your animation seriously. One of the principals of animation is 'timing' after all. Anyway this is kinda derailing and I sound like I've got my head up my own asshole so i'll leave it at that. I hope at least kinda got my point across. I get what you mean by "you can do whatever the hell you want" but it's more of difference between actually animating and making an Angrysockpuppet video. I would like to see that too. I was actually thinking of making a Spy/Sniper duo kicking butt in a cliché 80s cop action type scenario. Then I pussied out like a bitch. :v:
The problem is there's so many fucking Scout Sooper Dooper Edgy Special Action Hero Man videos that it kind of leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouth One man army type videos in general don't really make my nipples sparkle, though It's a teamwork based game, y'know?
One man army type videos in general don't really make my nipples sparkle, though It's a teamwork based game, y'know?
so?
so?
I dunno, it just feels a little wrong, I guess?

Besides why would a 7feet tall guy with a phd in russian literature be worried about wall jumping when he can literally punch the fucking wall into your face. The whole magic about these characters is not about if they can, but rather how they do it. The scout, as a character, is anything but 'serious', and most often is portrayed as a cocky brat that ends doing things to showoff his flexing muscles, despite not really havingthing to show or flex. Its one of the reasons why, on his meet the scout video, he stops halfway just to admire himself. Put that character in a super serious badass moment with no context and you literally turn it into a mere talking map prop.
I, for one, would like to see Soldier kick more ass in SFM videos. SFM videos in general don't pay as much attention to rocket jumping as they should.

It would be one helluva drama if done right.

i guess we can never post anything related to scout here again since you all get so fucking pissy about it, omfg :v: just an fyi [sp] theyre just fucking fanmade SFM videos, why do you care so much, just either watch it or dont?? [/sp]

[/sp]
Because it's a bad habit in the SFM community. Everyone does scout like an anime badass emo who fucks Femscout and kills the evil spy. SFM was given to us so we can make amazing things with it, not give it the deviantart fan service treatment to give a character crazy abilities and things that go against his character.
You know who never gets any SFM videos? Engie. We need more Engie.
You know who never gets any SFM videos? Engie. We need more Engie.
funnily enough, i was just testing with engi in sfm for something i was considering making. it was just a small scene where he throws a shotgun in the air, it spins then he catches it, i JUST finished it, and i figured i'd render it with each step (no lights/camera/cosmetics->cosmetics->lights->camera) and upload it to show the steps in prettying up a movie all i could render was the scene with nothing applied, and then SFM crashed. now it crashes every time i open that specific file. All i have left of my work is the scene with no cosmetics, lights or camera. pretty bummed out, it looked good too.
