That was refreshingly sweet for a Gmod movie.
It was amazing. Lovely little short.
Made this in gmod:

What do you guys think about this?
Open for suggestions.
OK.
If you haven't get tf2 physics V2. its somewhere on the workshop. Back up and zoom in. Zoom in by holding down M2 and then moving your mouse with the camera tool. Play with lamps (check out three point lighting). Work on posing. If yiu suck at it, look up references, or do the pose in front of a mirror. You can also get help from the people in the gmod screenshot subforum in this forum.

Yah, it was exactly like this.

Working on my first scenebuild in sfm. Since the sfm section doesnt have much of a WIP thread, I get to bother you guys!
I'm open to suggestions, and I'm not even sure where I'm going to take this scene. Anything I can do to spice it up?
Relevant suggestion: delete the civilians scout and spy.
More seriously, I would suggest to add something like a desk somewhere, and maybe add some fire to the chimney. Anyways, it looks already pretty great.

Shit, as soon as I heard that music at the beginning I only could think about this and couldn't stop laughing

Now in all seriousness, that was really heartwarming.

I plonked down a table and some plates on the rug, probably gonna update and slide in a reading chair or two for some of those darn bookshelves
Made a little something for a friend's birthday.

I don't know if the teeth make sense but that's still fucking great.
Those wood textures really detract from the whole thing.

But yeah, another wallpaper I made, thoughts?
"A Medic biting his arm in a blizzard"
Seriously though, why is he covering his neck rather than his face. I mean, he has a turtleneck of sorts...
Well, I think i can try posting this. This is my 2nd SFM ever, so don't be rude. Suggestions are more than welcome. I put them as thumbnails, I just want them to be my self-made profile images.
Also, it looks a bit pixelated on small avatar versions when I upload it to my profile image, if someone could tell me what process to use in order to fix that...

Note: That's a portrait, obviously, I'm still pretty horrified with moving these arms and bodies, I'm doing horrors.
Edit:
Oh, I did this too, in the same way. Looks a bit cooler (maybe because of the character itself?).

you kinda just spawned in a model and took a picture of it
you kinda just spawned in a model and took a picture of it
Nah, I spent much more time than you think. I had to spawn the model, pose it in the appropriated map, play with the faceposer, try to find the perfect position/intensity for the light, place the container in the background, and edited those SSAO settings to get a good result.
That probably looks nothing for real users of SFM, but, as I said earlier, don't be rude.
Anyways, I am much more competent in things related to programming, I'm pretty bad to everything related to "art".

i use SFM too, and i could literally spawn in gray mann, take a picture and get the same result.
Don't ask for feedback if you arent willing to take criticism too.
If you want my advice, First work on removing that grain. Right Click the viewport, render settings, turn off motion blur and crank up DoF
after that i'd mess with the camera and field of view
i'd also adjust the lighting to be less shiny, maybe change the aperture and focal distance so the background is blurred out. and get some volumetric lighting instead of default
it's better than most people can do, yes. but there's always room to improve

Now that I think about it...
Is it me or does Gray Mann look an awful lot like Little Jack, only much older?

It doesn't look like much to non SFM users, sorry. just try to put a little more pride into the work.
I'm willing to take constructive criticism (referring to the first post, I just read the second one). Not something like "That's ridiculously easy, I can even do it myself". You didn't do something particularly awesome the first hours you used SFM? (Of course, you have 290 hours, you probably have skill, but you're talking to a beginner, not a professional 3D artist)
Edit: Um, sorry, didn't see the edit of your post. Thanks for the advice, I didn't know that trick with the render settings...

How is being new an excuse to not strive for success
how are you going to strive for success when you don't take criticism
when i was learning sfm i specificially asked friends to point out my weak spots so i knew what to improve
also 290 hours is nothing, i'm mediocre at best. i've got friends at >2000 hrs

Boop.
I think things are pretty much done, aside from this giant empty part of the build that I have no idea what to do with.
Tried to fix it up.

Is it any better?
Usually, you tend to lift your hand the other way to protect the face, with the palm facing away or being horizontal.
I don't want to glorify my own work, but something like this:
[t]http://th09.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/f/2014/093/3/8/anndriks_saga_by_thomasmcfloy-d7cwjg2.jpg[/t]
Of course, he is now lowering his hand because the snowfall isn't as heavy as in your picture.
Also, when a blizzard is blowing in your direction, you don't tend to look directly into it, more like your head facing downwards to see where you're stepping.
[editline]23rd April 2014[/editline]
oh I forgot, since snow comes from above you usually tend to look under the arm, not over it.
Now this is some feedback that actually helps me, thanks!
Glad I could be of assistance.
