He was timing it so the flare crit on the still technically on fire pyro, which then assisted his airblasting to get the pyro high enough so that they cratered/got hit by an axe

No I mean that the crit flare bounced the first pyro straight into the air at 00:05, and he only used the flare to do that and airblasted afterward.
I've never seen the flare do that.

When it comes to melee hit registering its bugged as hell it even happened in cs go one time. Its the usual hit sound but he kills you and he's at full hp.
I hope valve doesn't fuck around on source 2 and they actually improve the hitboxes.

That has nothing to do with hitboxes though, it's prediction that gets fucked up and could be casued by a small sudden lag spike, either on the server or your end.
