Maybe genuine items means we'll get Max's Head, the Service Medal, Bill's Hat, etc added to the drop system, while the old ones are made genuine.
It would also allow Valve to make all purchased set hats genuine and remove them from the set bonus.

I was going to offer gifting it for hats, but last time I ended up gifting the hats a couple of days later.
According to TF2 Wiki, the afterburn from the new axe doesn't go away unless you enter water or are healed.
It's probably a bug, but if not, that's a pretty amazing and annoying item.

Update on bug: Does NOT go away from being healed, it will only go away when being airblasted, entering water or jarate/milk. Causes afterburn damage to a Pyro, but he looks like he's bleeding out (no fire effect).

So, about the genuine attribute on the weapons... What if you gift wrap them and trade them that way? Do they still lose their genuine title?

The attribute is only listed as "On Hit: target is engulfed in flames"
I guess that means permanent afterburn? Hitting a Pyro seems to be a bug, but infinite afterburn that works more like bleedout would be an interesting mechanic. Kind of like the Medic infection of TFC

-Eventually will be made craftable. People settle.
-"Genuine." People floored.
-Items lose "Genuine" attribute after being traded. Calm once more, some unrest remains.

I agreed with the first half of your post, but this part I have to disagree with.
Waay more than ten people will buy and already have bought it. Maybe not quite as many people who bought Poker Night or Killing Floor, but still a lot more than ten are going to be running around with these items.
While sifting through this, I was a bit sad.
Valve's added stuff that the community is getting fired up about, and they are REALLY pissed about it. Then they refused to respond to all of the threads on SPUF and emails they've been getting, and add Genuine. Remember how much of a shitstorm Vintage caused? I can only see more shit Valve will eventually throw at TF2.
