I like the genuine thing, it's very good that people who pre-ordered the game that the items originate from are able to show their dedication to it, and "Vintage" is now too ordinary, and an inaccurate prefix for new items.

Looks to me like many people are just jealous because they can't get their genuine TF2 items. I guess it only makes sense that people who play TF2 ONLY play TF2! There's no way they can play other kinds of games!
Yeah, I'll probably pick up rift, play the free month, see if I like it, if not, not continue the subscription and still have items.

I use the Bottle, saw a heavy with a shotgun once in a blue moon in 2Fort, and I had a brief spell as vanilla Pyro a while back.

I play as a scout with a standard cap, as a demoman with scrumpy (last I checked), Soldier with eye-covering helmet, and a vanilla pyro period.
Fuck hats, gameplay is where it's at.

The funny thing is I opened teamfortress.com and the first thing I see is a paragraph of Scout crying about tie-ins. Even the in-game characters are getting sick of it.
Usually I'm cool with promotions, but Valve stepped over the line. Not far enough where I'll start dropping absurd threats or cry about it, but enough where I can no longer defend their rationale. It wouldn't be so bad, if it weren't for the fact that every promotion/update seems to bring something worse then the last one, I'm scared for the future.
Bleh, just thought of this, but now the Pyro has a melee weapon that lights people on fire, there goes some enjoyment of Medieval mode.

In Medieval mode everyone drops medkits, though. And medkits fuck fire in the buttocks.
(PS went Axtinguisher Pyro along with a Volcano Fragment friend on a Medieval server earlier. Shit was GRAND.)
Easy way to get rift walker:

> build 2 teleporters, teleport through one, then step forward.
>type status in console to get x y z coordinates
>type "sv_cheats 1; bot_teleport x y z 0 0 0; sv_cheats 0" as one command without quotation marks.
>knock the bot (should be medic) a bit to be sure his health is a bit low
>teleport through and start firing at him
>If done correctly, achievements will not be deactivated, and you will be able to obtain it.
Certainly a lot better than using SAM.picker....

Actually one time I saw a completely vanilla pyro, not even a mercenary badge...
When I hit inspect and saw nothing I started beating him with a stick, and eventually he looked like "what are you doing." and I just walked away with "Oh, thought you were a spy" in my head.

And it's also infinite afterburn that works on Pyros as well, and only stops when doused with water/Jarate/Mad Milk or being airblasted.
Only Mad Milk can be used in Medieval mode out of all of those, unless you play on a map with water (not likely). A few pyro's hitting everyone will kill the entire damn team.

Ah crap i tried crafting the axe beacuse i had enuff' spares stuff to do it 2 times, i got an axtinqusher.
